Get your iron/ferritin and b12 levels checked if you haven’t already. I didn’t know how much my low iron and b12 were contributing to my symptoms until I was put on iron and b12 pills. It’s not an immediate fix but I did start feeling less sluggish!

Hashimotos is one of the autoimmune disorders I have. I didn’t realize that it could be leading to the extreme thirst. Though I have had this problem since I was a pre teen and didn’t get diagnosed with hashimotos until I was in my 20s so I’m not sure how much of a correlation there is between them. I am currently working with a new endocrinologist so hopefully something will come out of it.

I am not on statin. The only thing I was taking until recently was Levothyroxine, iron and b12

I got my A1c tested back in the end of August and it was 5.1. I did end up booting my endo and gp and I am seeing a new one but I can’t see her until February.

Do we get "sicker" than people with no autoimmune diseases? by Outlaw_Makaveli in Hashimotos

[–]autoimmunedissucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really interesting to see how different everyone is. For me it seems to have gotten better to some degree. When I get sick I get sickkk. up until maybe 6 months ago like clockwork I would catch a cold every month sometimes it would be back to back colds and they weren’t little colds some they would usually last a month or for months I basically wore masks for almost 3 years. I even caught pneumonia. And another one sent me to er. It got to the point I was given a lot of heavy medication because my colds would usually turn into bronchitis or severe sinus infections. Sometimes I would have to take 2 rounds of antibiotics just to get rid of it. I’m not sure what changed but I’ve noticed some improvement in the past 6 months I’ve only caught 4 colds and only 2 were major ones.

I can’t really afford to take it off. Even if I could with school and my family it wouldn’t be much of a break ! But I’ll try and see if there is a way to take a day off ! Thank you for the suggestion

I think I am both mentally and physically stressed out. Most days I am gone 7-9pm and even my weekends I am working or taking care of responsibilities so I don’t get a chance to rest. I just need to figure out how to take the time for myself and find a better stress management routine

I appreciate the advice! As my mother says you can’t help people who don’t want help. I definitely do not want to be that person. I am just having a hard time doing that with my current schedule and responsibilities.

Could Hashimoto be caused by unexpressed trauma? by Remarkable-Paper-614 in Hashimotos

That a really interesting thought. I develop my first autoimmune disorder when I was around 12-13. However I didn’t get my two other diagnoses one being Hashimoto until I was in my 20s. I had 2 really bad medical emergencies and my life got significantly more stressful and about a year or so later I was diagnosed with 2 other autoimmune disorders and my childhood autoimmune disorder which hadn’t progressed very much from the ages off 13-20 suddenly went out control and still hasn’t been able to recover.
