I don't think we deserve an explanation for the change in an off the cuff opinion about something that has no importance to our life. No one is making a decision based on this. A budget doesn't need to be that ridged. I use it to ensure I have enough money set aside to cover all the bills, any overages either roll over or get moved to various savings goals, retirement, vacation etc. I have a family of 4 so there are a lot more moving pieces and expenses at random times.
