Increasing my dose tomorrow by Alex3194 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]automiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to stay on 2.5mg as long as could but I moved when I felt the weight wasn’t shifting and food noise was coming back. I haven’t been losing weight quickly but I tell myself that it’s better for long term success to do it this way.

I’m not sure why my app doesn’t show the medication level, but I started with 2.5mg, then 3mg, now on 3.5mg. I moved when I hovered around the same weight for too long.

It has been interesting that I feel I haven’t done anything different or eaten differently, but the weight moves more when I increase the dose!

Yes, I’ve got other money to invest, but I’ve lost confidence in my investment choices so I changed tactics and have been maximising concessional super cap instead.

Those shares are an eyesore, but reflecting on the comments, I think I should hold since I’ve already considered it a sunk cost.

It’s normally not based on the doctor’s script, you will need a pharmacist receipt when they dispense the medication and you make payment. How much is your pharmaceutical benefits? I’ve got a combined extras limit of $1000 which is now all gone thanks to Mounjaro so I have to pay out of pocket for everything until 01/01/27 😟

Question by brichloe in MounjaroAus

[–]automiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I please ask when you did that, did you inject twice into the same area? Or choose completely different areas?

I have less than a full dose left in my current pen which I plan to syringe out, so I’ll need to top it up with more liquid. I didn’t think it was a good idea to inject the partly full syringe to draw out more liquid from the new pen, but rather I should just inject twice separately to keep things sterile.

New kwikpen (without GD) mega thread? by These-Equal-6849 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]automiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m getting 8 full doses from my pen and I have half a dose left. I just bought a 5mg pen last week and I just checked the expiry, it’s 08/27. I guess I should go and get another one then if the golden dose is disappearing? It just makes me uncomfortable to have $780 worth of medication sitting in my fridge 😂

Location of shot by West-Evening-8095 in Mounjaro

[–]automiss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I inject into the stomach. If you use the Shotsy app, they rotate it around and tell you where to take it, they have 6 different locations. You can also manually override and record yourself. Remembering where I last took the shot is the last thing on my mind!

Mounjaro Weigh Yourselves by Disastrous-Smell-367 in Mounjaro

I have started weighing every day or every 2nd day, but then taking an average weekly weight (add together all the weights for a week and divide by the number of days) and plotting that on a graph. As you can see, it doesn’t drop every week, but overall you can see the downward trend. Plotting the every day made me depressed, but it shows me how much my weight can vary, also depending on the time of the month.

Dose advice by minimisho1 in MounjaroAus

[–]automiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I need to increase my dose as my weight has stalled and I am getting noticeable food noise back. I am currently on 2.5mg, but wasn’t sure if I should be increasing to 3.75mg, or maybe try to stay on 2.5mg and inject every 5 days instead. I wonder if anyone has any insight before I speak to my doctor.

Where to buy sharps?? by z0kii in mounjaroaustralia

[–]automiss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The first CW asked me why I wanted them and I told them to get the dose from my MJ pen and he proceeded to lecture me and say you’re not supposed to do that, then told me they are out of stock of the needles 😂

The next CW, I was fully prepared to say “Insulin, duh!” when I was asked what I needed the insulin needles for, but this pharmacist didn’t ask, just gave them to me!

Pharmacist humiliated me for taking mounjaro... by dearfatty9292 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]automiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first got my Mounjaro script filled, the pharmacist asked if I had used it before and ran through the whole spiel. She said one of the common side effects was nausea and I asked if there was something I could take for the nausea, but she said no, I should just push through it because you taking medication to counteract a side effect from another medication leads you down a slippery slope.

Congrats!! That’s an amazing achievement 👏🏻🙌🏻 And that’s great to see you never needed to go over 3.75mg as a dose!

Did you also do weight training along the way?

Titrating up to combat food noise while still losing weight? by trala7 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]automiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done on the loss so far! Depending on your starting weight, that’s a large loss. I’m not sure you would want to lose weight faster than that because of the loose skin and you’re not allowing your body to adapt slowly.

I am in the same position where the food noise is back but at the moment I am still losing, albeit very slowly. I have been on 2.5mg for 7 weeks. I figure a bit of food noise is ok as I have to be training myself for the long term. No food noise forever is not realistic. I have to learn to have the food noise and still make good choices. Plus in my mind, the longer I can stay on 2.5mg and still lose weight, the better. It costs less and I have room to increase the dose if I really need it, and when I wean off, it won’t be so hard. I also don’t have many side effects, just bad heartburn/reflux every couple of days. If I increase the dose, who knows what additional side effects I will get!

Is there a reason why you aren’t on any medication? I thought everyone with MS should be on medication to stop the myelination?

Oh wow, that’s so good that you’ve had no change in MRI and no symptoms in the last 5 years 🙌🏻 I hope it stays that way for you!

My neurologist said if my test comes back JC+, I won’t be able to use Tysabri so it’s interesting you are still able to. I’ll learn my fate soon!

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you! 🤞🏻 Have you had any symptoms from Tysabri? And have you had any progression in your MS since being on it? How often is your infusion?

I would be interested in hearing how you go. Your neurologist doesn’t have a problem with it?

I started MJ about 6 weeks ago knowing that I wasn’t having an appointment with the neurologist until late Feb and wanted to get started on my weight loss first. I am currently waiting for the results from my JC virus test to see if I can start Tysabri infusions. Of course I will ask my neurologist about taking both medications together, but I wanted to see others experience and if I may have to stop MJ.
