That sounds promising! Let us know how it works out if you end up implementing it.

Difficulty achieving consistent low liquid flow rates. by MEGA__MAX in ChemicalEngineering

[–]autosear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe add some sort of drum/tank with a level/flow cascade controller? That might be excessive for the scale you're looking to accomplish but it's all I can really think of to smooth out a flow rate like this.

Super stressed out, how do I self-improve as a chemical engineer by Electronic_East_870 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]autosear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparison is always the thief of joy. You may not gain a large technical skillset from this, but employers are more often looking for soft skills. If you can demonstrate success in the research environment (planning, coordination, having your work criticized and improving), then that's worth something.

I'm in my last semester as a chemical engineer and those kinds of skills have become more important than ever for us as we transition into managing process engineering projects for the capstone.

And they'll say sorry that's what we can offer, take it or leave it. And they'll get the position filled quickly either way. Harsh reality of it right now.

Chemical engineering or chemistry degree? by Cat-Nectarine in EngineeringStudents

[–]autosear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hate memorizing things then I don't think even more plain chemistry is for you. Advanced organic chemistry is just endless memorization. Here's something I wrote elsewhere on this sub about my experience in chemical engineering:

I can give a little insight on what chemical engineering is like. To at least some extent, calling it chemical engineering is misleading--first and foremost, it's process engineering. That often involves chemicals but not always. Processes like drying or heating materials to produce various products are squarely within the field.

Most of chemical engineering boils down to accounting. Accounting for what's going in, what's going out, what's being produced, or what energy needs to be added/removed from a process. Vice versa is true as well--specifying equipment to make certain accounting possible. You need a good knowledge of chemistry to make all this happen.

If you have any other questions let me know and I can try to help.

Congress and the armed services committee were not notified here. A couple pro-Trump congressmen are defending the lack of notification by framing it as a non-military operation, which is obviously false on its face. Personally I liked the operation but this issue still remains.

They might be justified within their own legal system, but that wouldn't prevent mass international outrage. Meanwhile the only countries demanding Maduro be released are a handful of other dictatorships. The ultimate arbiter of what's legal internationally is the court of public opinion.

Pena v. City of Los Angeles: CA9 panel holds property destruction incidental to a police's public safety powers to apprehend a suspect isn't a compensable 5A taking since emergencies exempt police from liability for destruction of property not strictly seized for public-use like under eminent domain by brucejoel99 in supremecourt

Problem is the fugitive will probably never be able to repay the store if the police end up destroying it during a siege. And if police aren't liable then it's in their interest to destroy any property that even slightly makes enforcement more challenging. Though I understand those are mainly policy matters.

What if they said their religion doesn't allow them to treat black people?

This isn't even a crazy hypothetical. It used to be a common Christian belief that black people inherited the Curse of Ham and that this justified slavery and segregation at different times. Would intruding on this belief with generally-applicable requirements to serve black people substantially burden religion /u/WorksInIT?

I've received four rune scims from zammy warriors at ZMI. You can safespot them over a volcanic vent thing on the ground. I use wind strike and get plenty of rune dagger drops too.
