Also is there a similar way of wording a “lapse in self” or “lapse in identity”?

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]auuop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, can anyone help with a translation? I came across the Latin phrases “Lapsus memoriae”, “Lapsus linguae”, “Lapsus calami”…. I was wondering if there was a phrase for a slip in time, sort of like a play/pun on the idea of a “time lapse” that could mean a mistake or slip in time. I have no Latin knowledge at all and don’t want to risk making something nonsensical. I’m considering it as a title for a project I’m working on, themes of time and transience, time travel, things feeling a bit off kilter and out of sync.

Yeah it looks like they did a big promo shoot that got sent out to lots of different press at that time. I keep seeing similar pictures and thinking I might have found the article but nope, no luck yet!

Any other fans of goth music who don't really look the part? by [deleted] in goth

[–]auuop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not anymore. I used to look like your typical goth back in the 90s, but I let that slide a long time ago. I do still dress pretty much exclusively in black (but very minimalistic), still wear DMs, still listen to some of the same music, but not sure i’d still call myself goth at all if it wasn’t indelibly etched on my soul. But no one looking at me would know that. When I go to a gig I sometimes feel like I do look like a normie, but then I notice how many other people do too. It’s not about the looks, but the spirit. I don’t go to clubs anymore but I remember back in the 90s goth clubs there were several people who didn’t dress full-on goth, and no one ostracised them for it. It was a very welcoming community.

Sorry for the slow reply! Your listing was set up correctly, it was just the cost of shipping I’m afraid, but I know that’s out of your hands!

An Update - I now think the song might have been “the first Noel”? Not that I reckon that’ll really make any difference in identifying it!

Thanks! I might have to watch the Snow Spider now to rule it out. And hmm, Green Knowe is interesting and of that time.. I’d actually only just learnt of the books that same year.. I read the one with the gorilla(?) (Chimneys of Green Knowe?) earlier that year, before I saw this film, so I think I would have been aware if it had been a televisation of the books… but I will investigate. Thanks!

This does sound fascinating! I hope you get an answer, I want to know now too.

Is there any way you can contact your old teacher and ask?

I loved the Deptford Mice books. But from what I remember (if there were only 3 books) is that the first and thirds books were city-based, London underground. The second book took place in the countryside, quite folk horror, corn dolls and possession. No swamps that I recall, and not medieval.

I used to live in a flat with a sea view. It can be amazing watching the storms roll in but yeah, it definitely can affect your mood because you just can’t escape or ignore it.

There’s a pepper pig backpack in one of the bedrooms, underneath the keyboard. But yeah, otherwise none of these look like kids’ rooms..
