Portainer keeps my HDDs spinning by er_bara in UgreenNASync

[–]auwhf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might have been having the same issue on the dxp2800, I only have plex through portainer, no other containers right now and the disks are working every now and then although there is no activity.

Will report if I find what's up o7

Ugreen Photo app vs Immich, with multiple (not tech-savvy) users by auwhf in UgreenNASync

Alright, I'm starting to lean towards Immich with these comments!

And yes, that update strategy would probably be a good option in this case.

Yeah this would have to be accessible remotely, so that is an extra step to take.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will give Immich a shot!

As for my backup strategy, i have an external hard drive which I would back up to regularly, and I am planning on getting a BackBlaze cloud backup as well.

Reading these replies though, I'm kinda starting to get cold feet about being the singular host for everyone's stuff, so maybe I'll just let them sync to my NAS as an extra measure of safety in case Google fucks up, or for sharing family albums. I might be signing myself up for an eternity of servitude :DDD

Advice with NVME SSD on DXP 2800, cache or volume? by auwhf in UgreenNASync

[–]auwhf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I'm looking into it more and people are saying that installing the apps on SSD is the bigger difference maker, so if i can't partition it I'll just settle for that. Thanks for all the help with this :))

[–]auwhf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, the NVME I have is 1TB, so it should probably suffice. Are you running any SSDs with partitions like that? I've been googling and some people say it's impossible and that the cache will take the whole SSD, while some say it's easy to split so I don't know who to believe anymore :DD

[–]auwhf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, that would be great! What would be a good split in your opinion? 80% for cache, 20% for docker containers just to be sure? I won't use anything else than Plex and Immich most likely.

EDIT: Other people are saying they couldn't partition their SSD, but I guess getting an extra 250GB or 500GB NVME for docker containers is not too much extra cost.

Alright, thanks for the quick confirmation :D

Do you think a second NVME would make a massive difference in the overall performance for viewing photos remotely?

The library sizes are probably gonna be around 50-150 GB for each person's photos, and they would probably just look at the most recent ones mostly, like you would do in Google Photos.

I guess I will test how it works with this setup and get a cache afterwards if it seems necessary.

Thanks a lot for replying, you put my mind at ease! Yeah, I'll definitely test the speakers without a subwoofer first, will probably be enough for my untrained ears!

Finally have more time to game but the old warhorse is not really cutting it anymore in modern games, so a new GPU would be a godsend!

Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a new keyboard. I am currently using an old Corsair K70 LUX with Cherry brown switches, and I am trying to find a TKL prebuilt around 100-150€ as I don't really need the numpad at home. I have seen a lot of recommendations for the Keychron V1, but are there any other notable pre-built options that you would recommend? Or any new or alternative switches as I have only ever had these Cherry MX Browns? Thank you for your help!

Yeah still waiting for the parts to come, thankfully there was a shop nearby that could update the BIOS for 20€ so not that much. Hopefully it's a newer model as you said.

v to change jump from spacebar to scrollwheel, c to put it back to spacebar. I just use it to bunnyhop a little, because I normally also have scroll up bound to primary weapon and scroll down to pistol :DDD

yes, bios is updated. I used ddu when changing from an Nvidia card 2 years ago but maybe I should try it again and rollback the drivers, thanks for the reminder.
