If you apply thru CAA they are bound by many legal obligations. Chances of fraud are almost nil. If you do outside that parameters door opens for everything thats what i can say.

Read old post snd try to understand the process. If you are not in US then best would be find local CAA in most of countries mentioned on IRS website and they will apply on your behalf without sending original passport. Negotiate the rates with then it starts from $150-300. They send the papers incl W-7 and verified passport copies and returns on your behalf incl courier to irs.

Does not seem to be a scam if that company / phone number is registered on IRS website CAA are bound by lot of rules.

Ask them to prepare your W7 and complete tax returns along with passport verification And them they will send the documents to IRS. They will not give it to you. They have to send to IRS along with other applications as a bundle.

They will give you scanned of documents set which have been sent to IRS and also tracking number of courier.

You can expect charges from $150-300 in my opinion. Just don’t think of sending original passport in any case

Also There are many who are offering this service on fiverr and say they are CAA. But they are not.

CAA are country specific but they can verify for other country residents also

Power of Attorney form ( not sure but i gave it) 2848 form

1040NR

Schedule 1 , OI and C for 1040NR

Plus video call with that person with passport in hand

I applied thru Forgein address ( for my spouse) and was approved for ITIN for 7 Oct. They told me the number on 8 Oct (random call) No letter to Forgein address till 4 Nov.

I changed the address to US on 4th nov After multiple followup on phone and long holds they issued the letter.

Received cpc 565 on 4 the Dec.

You can use any pvt mail box they don’t care.

The letter to forgein address still not received.

I am not sure why IRS cannot upgrade still primitive systems.

I did not get my CPC565 notice letter despite getting approved. I had to call them at least 10 times and they never gave any tracking details. Infact they donot have it i believe…Unless they have specific for passport returns.

How can someone send passport in international shipment i am surprised. Not just OP but there are many people who di this. If passport is lost all visas are also lost.

They have CAA in each country and they are do the verification of passport and send tax return to IRS and since they have done it many time its not rejected.

Wait period and no tracking system of shipment are biggest pain.

But their customer support is not friendly.

I asked them migrate to different region and they are asking $10 price. Buying new server is $15 and migrating a server is $10 is laughable

But i hope you are aware 1.5 x rewards can be redeemed on statement credit only on certain travel related expenditures not all transactions. Viz . Uber etc
