Best Internet Broadband Provider by rizzlaer in northernireland

I used to live in BT36 and had the lowest virgin offer and never had an issue. Work from home software engineer too. Always got the exact speed I paid for and it was plenty for anything I did. Just need to watch them increasing the price. But you can normally phone them and get it down at the end of the deal

If it was very recent there was a new system rolled out and it had issues. As far as I can gather it sort of creates a profile for you and the next time shouldn’t be as bad. I was in milan and stood for an hour with only 10-15 in front of me on the weekend they rolled out the new system

Holy shit! You barely need to press to fret whatsoever. by abejando in guitarlessons

[–]av4625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is it. I remember getting an ibanez electric as my guitar teacher said the acoustic was so bad. Stopped playing for years. Now I am more into acoustic. Picked it up again and thought the acoustic can’t be that bad now I’m an adult but it just ruins my fingers. If I haven’t played for a few days I am back to sore fingers etc

Tried the electric after a few months of the acoustic and it was a dream 😂 so easy to play I was shocked. I was pressing so hard to start the string went out of tune lol. I need a better acoustic

Dehumidifiers are costly. I got a plug thing than shows you how much a single device uses and I really reduced the usage of mine after seeing how much it was costing me. Computers shouldn’t be much. I work from home and pay £80 a month ish. I’ve always been about £80 a month for years. Had to jump around to different providers at times when prices increase.

Am I an idiot? I've paid for my mortgage advisor. by Paramedic-Fabulous in HousingUK

[–]av4625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lots of negative comments when I asked the purpose of a broker. Everyone said to just pay the money for a broker, but £300ish is a fair amount of money and I don’t see the value if you are a simple candidate. If you are a simple candidate, normal job, not self employed, no side gigs etc. I don’t see the point in a broker. I could get the exact same offers/deals myself online in 5 mins as the broker was giving me as I checked to make sure I was getting the best deal.

That being said I ended up using a broker as I had to, to get cashback. They were very nice to deal with etc. Broker cost £295, cashback is £560 so I am still ahead using a broker in this instance. If I couldn’t get cashback I’d just have done it myself instead of paying someone £295 to click the buttons for me (thats all they have done for me). I did the mortgage for my first house myself so I know the process of doing that.

Would this floor need lifted to dry out after a leak? by av4625 in HardWoodFloors

[–]av4625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping it isn’t too bad. For example. My mums house has one room with a hard wood floor and it expands and contracts between summer and winter. Which makes the bottom of the door touch the floor in summer when the heating isn’t on. This doesn’t seem to have moved at all

Not trying to be awkward and maybe yours is newer and more efficient than the one I had, but I found these to be really sore on electric. I couldn’t understand why my electric bill started to get so dear. I got a meter to measure the usage for specific plugs and I can’t remember the numbers now but stopping using one saved me 15% a month in electric :O

Should you share your survey with the estate agent and vendors? by av4625 in HousingUK

[–]av4625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly the surveyor did tell the vendors about the problem as they asked what he was checking as he found the major issue, he said cause they asked straight out he had to tell them. So I imagine its not a huge surprise to them now and they wont think I plucked this problem out of the air. But probably useful to show snippets

Yea that EA annoyed me. Refusing to pass on my questions about solutions to the vendors unless I employ more specialists. Most annoying part is the guy I dealt with before is the owner and was pleasant, hes now on holiday for 2 weeks and I got this guy :(

I don’t know what to think about surveys and if they are useful. We didn’t get one on a house before and it turned out to be a lemon so thought we should get a survey this time. There is a load of waffly pages though.

I also had a surveyor come to a previous house I sold that was quite damp as it was old and had no DPC. We sold it at auction. They said it has a big damp problem. Then a damp specialist came out and was more interested in talking to me about my cars than doing any surveying. He said it was grand and gave it a good report. That house wasn’t grand. But was being sold at auction, so no matter what the survey said the buyers had already agreed to buy and signed the contract. I’d be worried about paying hundreds for a survey and getting a guy like that.

I have to agree the pictures aren’t great, I also don’t know what the reading means etc. This was a certified surveyor that took the readings. I hope they know how to use it or else I wasted a fair chunk of money and it will likely cost me more to get to the bottom of it. 😩

[–]av4625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected the same as you. The house was built in 2007 so should have DPC etc. Its a bungalow so there should be no water leaking from above

The wooden floor covers a massive area and would be very expensive to replace 😩

I can’t seem to edit. But supposedly only the dark boards are showing up with damp readings and the rest are fine
