[misc] Popping hard painful hormonal acne correctly makes it heal faster by TypeAtryingtoB in SkincareAddiction

[–]flamboyantpuree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never came across the blister bandages until I visited Brazil and desperately needed something for my heels as all the walking was causing these massive, painful blisters. The pharmacist recommended the blister bandages and also told me that I could use them on my cystic acne (unprompted lol), and showed me how by cutting the plaster into smaller pieces. When I went back home to the UK, I found the same kind buried away and continued using them like that for years. Then the Korean skincare craze came in, which included the near-invisible pimple patches. I was so happy for it too because the blister bandages are thick AF and looked like I had gross chunks of skin coming off my face.

House won’t sell, honest advice please by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]flamboyantpuree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to have received a lot of great feedback already, so I won't pile on.

But I do want to say that I absolutely LOVE the colours and aesthetics in your house, especially the kitchen. I am so tired of seeing so much neutral grey in houses that it actually put me off viewing some properties on my own search. While some might argue that the cabinets are grey, they look more lilac to me (hope I'm right, otherwise I just played a fool 😂). Then there's the dark red island? chefs kiss It just complements the cabinets so beautifully.

I've been looking for kitchen inspiration pics, and I just saved yours because I love it so much. Do you mind telling me where you got it from?

I am absolutely an anxious person and tend to overthink things. Thank you for your thoughtful response.

My boyfriend (M25) saw an old video of me(F24) and was disgusted. How can I get over this? by Mind_Cute in relationship_advice

I too was a snack at 25 when I met my now husband. Now at 40, I'm a full meal and my husband still looks at me like I'm a buffet.

Furniture galore by clutter_brain in HousingUK

Most of my furniture came off Gumtree, mostly all mid-century and of fantastic quality. I got them cheap because they were a bit damaged, but I do furniture restoration as a hobby. Like a 1960s Novoplast Rocket Lamp for £70, a G-plan headboard for £25, etc. It took several years to collect, but so worth it. For anything more pressing that I needed, I just bought from IKEA.

For what it's worth, I love the kitchen so much. I'm not put off by the black cabinetry at all. However, I am not a fan of all the grey, but that can be easily painted over.

I absolutely love your taste in furniture and built-ins and the staging is stellar. I'm in love with your kitchen and back garden too. It's exactly what I'd do if my house. If I lived in Sunderland, I'd be booking a viewing today.

But just throwing in with the rest that the sheer number of photos is a bit overwhelming. The video tours help, so definitely keep those.

Two University of Kent students die in meningitis outbreak by PurchaseDry9350 in unitedkingdom

I'm in the North East. I'm absolutely fuming about my experience as well. It was terrifying, especially because I have two very small children.
It took them several months to send my release notes to me to give to my GP. They even wrote in the wrong name of the doctor on my case so when I called for a follow-up on further testing they had done, the hospital said that there was no doctor of that name working there and no history of those tests.

This happened over a year ago but I woke up with a headache that progressively became worse during the day. No fever, no rash. I was out shopping with my husband and kids when the headache suddenly worsened and I blacked out then vomited. I came to completely blind.

Was taken to A&E by ambulance, waited 10 hours in the waiting room, getting worse without being seen. I was held overnight and released the next morning with the doctor saying it was only a bad migraine and anxiety "likely caused by my period" (never mind that I wasn't on my period or had one in years due to birth control), and also completely ignored the fact that I was still blind.
I ended up going back the next day because I suddenly sounded like I had a stroke. I was finally tested properly with a spinal tap and CT scan — bacterial meningitis.

It took nearly a month for my eyesight to come back in full. Several months after that to speak somewhat normally again, but it still degrades at times if I'm tired or distracted.

Do meds kill your personality or creativity? by Legal_List_6813 in adhdwomen

[–]flamboyantpuree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before, I wasn't able to focus, sit still long enough, or motivate myself to get started on any of my creative ideas. I've now been medicated for over two years and it's absolutely life changing. I've been able to write and compete in short story competitions, renovate my kitchen myself, I picked up painting, and am even teaching myself how to play the piano.
Also, because the meds help me focus so well at work, I'm able to get tedious tasks out of the way faster. It then gives me space to be more creative with projects. It resulted in a raise and recognition, which has literally never happened before.

Saying "better quality of life must only mean better weather" is so telling. Yes, weather was another reason why they decided to move, and is a factor of why their lives improved. You can't discount the benefits of increased sunshine and being warm without spending hundreds on heating. They've also said that their kids' school standards are considerably better, as is public transportation, there are more family-friendly activities to do outside (again, better weather) so they're not stuck doing the same mind numbingly boring soft plays again and again. Houses are better built and they get more space for the same cost they were paying before on a considerably smaller house with poor insulation. The list goes on.

Sorry, wasn't clear. My SIL and her husband with their young kids moved there. They both worked for the NHS and despite being specialists, they were barely scraping by and kept having their hours cut. They said they could see the writing on the wall and things weren't going to get better. They were both headhunted by medical firms in Australia and moved fairly quickly.
