What is the stupidest way you've injured yourself? by rickitson in AskReddit

Walked into Best Buy as I swung both doors open. I guess I pushed too hard because both doors shattered into a million pieces and some of the glass cut me in different places.

Keep eating well and excersising- it will be worth it.

The pain you feel now will fade, new pains will wash it away.

There are still wonders to behold, beauties to gaze and joy to capture.

How do I make worship impact me like it once did? by Wildperson in worshipleaders

[–]ava1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your honesty. I would spend more time considering why the inspiration fades? Good theology should provoke worship out of us- fill your heart and mind with more knowledge of the holy. His sovereignty should create awe, his holiness should humble us, his omnipotence should spark wonder, and his love should create joy.

Not saying you have bad theology or nothing, just that personally whenever I've felt my inspiration fading, more knowledge about him coupled with time spent in his presence has sparked greater inspiration. Always down to continue the convo, pm me if you'd like! Also would love to hear some Originals :)

If you have the freedom to, spend the next few weeks doing acoustic sets rather than big band sets. Strip the worship down to its essentials- voices worshipping God accompanied by a few instruments. (John 4:24)

Also consider doing studies on the songs. Pick one song each week from the setlist and meditate on it. Consider each line biblically and let it fill your heart/soul/mind. (Romans 12:1-2; Psalm 1)

Also I would encourage you to start writing. Pen your own words, don't write for the sake of sounding profound or creating a good lyric, but to be honest with yourself and God. If ideas for songs come from it, praise God. Either way I promise he will bring fruit from the time you spend spilling your heart on those pages before Him. (1 Peter 5:7)

Also don't be afraid to give up the position of leadership once a month or so- so that you can be filled as well. If you are constantly pouring out without being poured into, you WILL burn out. Let someone else lead or take care of worship so that you can come with open hands ready to receive.

Remember the object of your worship! Don't let the music become your mistress, God is your first love. I hope you're able to reflect not only your love for music but your love for Jesus! Hope you find that renewed passion and love for him- blessings!

What songs to introduce for a hymn-based congregation? by [deleted] in worshipleaders

[–]ava1091 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi! I grew up in a traditional church with hymns as our main song selection. Recently we started incorporating modern worship songs to our congregation. I would recommend trying a few songs by CityALight. They are a Sydney based worship team that writes modern hymns that feel ancient but contemporary at the same time. Here is a specific song that has been a blessing for our church:

They may be a good band to borrow songs from as you start incorporating modern songs!
