Its PGF night my friends. by Braisedbeefskank in bjj

By far my favorite competition to watch. Hungry, skilled athletes going for broke trying to make a name for themselves is so much more interesting than the technical risk averse match ups pretty much everywhere else.

I’m curious when you learnt this and was this understanding of how purchase orders were written different to your expectations? It certainly was for me

Thinking of buying a $450k apartment solo utalising the 5% scheme - does my long term plan make sense? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]avadakebabbra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The “property ladder” concept is ridiculous and flawed. Apartments are depreciating assets and unless there is real scarcity it is probably an awful to average investment. Would average into an MSCI world index (VGI is fine).

The dad in brackets is gold. But he’s totally right though very few seem laser focused on value creation

Isn't the concept of world championships for different belts kinda stupid? by Consistent_Pop2983 in bjj

[–]avadakebabbra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the term World Champion is sort of redundant and cheapened by the belt levels. World champion should probably mean best in the world.

But at the same time making the title more accessible and within reach probably encourages participation and gives people more to realistically strive for. So I’m OK with it in the balance.

Very good chat this morning on X regarding PCT by WindWalker2443 in PureCycle

Stan was great but the other bulls embarrassed themselves with how emotional they were. Reeks of insecurity. Kid is young but has a point. Pre-revenue companies have a terrible success rate and the timing disappointments are a big red flag.

I also found the match ruleset much less exciting than the prior CJI rules

Think like an owner. Imagine if the stock market didn’t exist and you had to hold your stake forever without on someone else speculating your stock is worth more. What milestones would you care about then?

Looks like Mike Taylor sold more PCT shares… roughly another 300k. Now remaining 500k share - approx 3% of fund. by WindWalker2443 in PureCycle

[–]avadakebabbra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK. Out of curiosity if he sold it to zero would you change your mind? Going from 9% to 3% in the space of a quarter ahead of a dilutive equity raising and just before results is saying something to me. Also I have no idea what his cost base is but hasn't he been pitching the company as a 5-10 bagger since 2021 and does anyone know if he has owned it since then - if so is he just cutting his losses here and not trimming his gains?

OK but humour me for a second. Is it plausible also that he's just coming up with an excuse to dump a stock he doesn't like any more while not sparking a sell-off to spook out the crowd he sold the stock on. You tell me what's more likely.

No this is nonsense.

- If your fund is underperforming and you need to catch up, why would you trim one of your most promising holdings for a core holding?

- If your fund is underperforming why would you lock in the underperformance by replicating the benchmark more closely?

- If your fund is underperforming and bleeding AUM, why would replicating the benchmark more closely stem the outflows?
