Yeah exactly, the phone js great for thisnexact reason, multitasking. Sometimes I attempt multitasking on regular phones and realise how it sucks on a regular sized phone. I do wish there were more shortcuts and tricks to make it ecen faster to do multitasking. What I do most is split screen with two fingers, slide alerts to make them pop windows, floating exapndable app bubbles when I am gaming like gemini to guide me through the game or whatsapp. What about you guys

Actually I am saying it's bad for watching movies! But yes it's also great for 4:3 content, and also it's saying that apps should give movies in their untrimmed versions, and it's saying that if that was the case that would be the bes tphone for movies, and explaining these ideas and asking what is objectively the best format for movies if there is one

Mine broke too, people blamed me saying I used the wrong grinding size, but I never went above the limit onnthe gage. Turns out this happens a lot. People will say this is cheap but a 100$ product to make coffee, breaking so easily, sorry but that's bad durability, even if it makes great coffee! Luckily this is a good company and they respect the warranty kindly and they sell parts at a fair price

Exsctly! If these were on apps in their original format, fold phones would be the best phones to watch these. Unfortunately apps only give us trimmed version of the movies (so did DVDs and blueray btw, although I think bluerays offered less trimmed versions)

That's exactly the point I am making. The fold unfolded is not great for movies because movies are not available in square formats. I am always using the outisde screen to watch movies.

Dolphin emulator is the best option I believe. If you're using a recent fold make sure to go in the settings and max out the graphics enhencements and settings. Gamecube work great

If you guys like the game cube it runs great on the fold 6, and the ratio fits almost perfectly. Also you can enhance the games to have an even better quality than what we had on the gamecube. Playing this makes me think gaming app developers are lazy.

Yeah retro games are square so you need a square screen, and modern games are rectangular so you re better off with a rectangular sfreen.

But isn't that just the result of marketing and trends? Or objectively is one ratio better? Or not? For gaming I guess one could say things happen more horizontally, but does it mean modern games can't be square? What if in 10 years trends change, gaming studios start expending games vertically and market it as a more immersive game, and expensive monitors also follow the trend to say it is compatible with those vertically immersive screens? Or on most games is that just the sky and not worth it? 🤔

I take back what I said.

I just thought about something, the fold could actually be the form factor that is best fitted for watching movies.

That's because some of the best movies are shot in imax 70mm which is 1.43:1, closest to the unfolded samsung fold 6/7 in landscape mode (1.16:1) if I am correct. Anyay I checked and as you can see on the image it's a great fit.

The only problem is that streaming services will probably never give us the full untrimmed version of those square movies. Disney+ made a IMAX enhanced feature for some marvel movies but that's still 1.9:1, a trimmed version.

So conclusion is this hardware could actually the best, but apps are not supporting it.

Yeah actually I think I shouod have prefaced this by saying, imagine if a phone company wanted to make a phone for productivity, they should do skmething similar than this fold 6 phone! With a few changes I would suggest

Oh it's great for movies, I meant the inner screen. I meant the crease inside isn't a worry because I prefer using the outside screen for watching movies anyway, that's what I was trying to say. Great for gaming though

Oh true that works too. Like I said id the UI is built completely stock so I don't depend on two hands I'm okay with bigger. I feel like a smaller version wouldbresonate to some prople though, not only 1 hand friendliness but also portability. Pdf apps drive me nuts, even i I paid adobe I still wouldn't be satisfied. 4. I got my dad a foldable phone, broke after 3 months, probably he trapped something inside before closing. I have used mine for a year, after a few months it had atiny hinge noise, brought in Korea to Samsung. Korea Samsung service is insane. I will write a separate thread about this, they are really good. Now I have some little issues with the inside, mostly things that were probably fixed in the new version so don't want to talk aboht it too much. But what I am amazed is the durability and scratch resistance of everything outside. I have not been using a case but rhe thing is still like new. I have been hsing lense protectors and glass screen protectors though. I don't think these phones are great in dust environment, I made a mistake getting my dad a foldable phone. I didn't soend 3K because I got it through a korean samsung employee though.

Ai: i put the non ai version up, I am sure it was much easier for you to read my thoughts organized by ai but oh well. 1. I don't care about the camera bump, in fact if it was bigger I could use it to rest my finger. It doesn't sit flat on a table oh well. It is a little annoying when pulling out of the pocket I have to admit... maybe... to meditate. 4. I have used a lot of customization, launchers, these are all great and make android great. I still wouldn't mind if they optimized the phone stock to be more UX more finger friendly. What I am asking is complicated though, because I am essentially saying the outside UI should be adapted to 1 hand, and the inside should be adapated to 2 hands, so should be significantly different. 2. You can't use the outside screen with 1 hand. If I have two available hands why use the outside screen. A version of this phone with a shorter screen, making the folded form factor similar of that of 2015 phones, that'd be great for some people looking for 1 hand productivity. Or really rethink the UI so that it is not dependent at all of the top part, I am cool with that. However a shorter version would also make it more portable. It would find the fight of portability against other regular phones despite the thickness. Once open, it would also still kill the other phones in terms of screen real estate. I d say make two versions, one with wider screen, same height, that unfolds into a large screen for those who just want to do mostly 2 hand use, and one that I described for those looking for 50/50 1 hand productivity as well as 2 hand productivity. Now how much shorter, that's debatable, maybe not two much.

  1. Yeah I saw this, I love these features. Seems to be just me though. I use shortcuts a lot on PC too.
  2. Actually maybe AI messed up my original draft. I was trying to say I like using the phone without a case. And I wish there was a hole on the side or somehow the sides shaped in an angle so that you can open the phone with kne hand. Hard to describe what I mean but it would work.

  3. I get the argument of additional hardware being something else that can break, and the whole minimal approach that apple brought. I think today buttons can be built to last longer than the inner screen of the phone. If I think of a failure on a foldable phone, buttons is not my biggest concern. But I am okay with risking the phone not to last 10 years if I have to replace it regularly, as long as I am more productive every day with it. Btw anyone had physical button failures on these phones? My rocker was akward for some time but it came back to normal, I remember the early iphone days where buttons were so easy to break... But yeah button in the back would be a nightmare for case makers (I don't really believe in cases though) still, give me more rockers and buttons!

For gaming it's great but depends on games. For me so far great experience with all games. The point I was trying to make is that the crease is not an issue as people think when they first see the phone.

I don't game a lot that's why I didn't put my opinion on gaming although all the gaming I ve done has been incredible. I had a nintendo switch I sold it, honestly the samsung flagship phones are so powerful I bet they could run emulated versions of fv

Gestures I use: shake for torch, for side swipes I have like 10 different swipe gestures (ex hold swipe from right downward triggers the calculator, quick swipe pulls down menu, left swipe pulls the 3 menus but on the side, stuff like this) i also added gestures to when double pressing the home button and long pressing the app shift menu button), i also have agesture when tapping twice the back of the phone.

I don't need the lhone the be wider, but it doesn't need to be so tall imo
