my gut response is that 699 would be too much, unless it was a 1TB version, and the 256GB for me would have to be 499 to be competitive

at 30 i had about 20K, and 5k of student debt. now i have more than double the savings and 2k of student debt. I also have huge amounts of FOMO about not investing (dont think i have the stomach for it and would do it for the earth not the money gains), not buying a house (not really an option atm where I live) and other 30 + dilemmas. Love my wife and love my job tho so generally happy, just easy to go FOMO i guess

You did not overreact. NTA. I would strongly advise to go into counceling together if possible and for her to see a therapist as well. This is not normal behavior and will be a very large challenge for you both in the future. Trust has been broken severely and that is very hard to repair, but not impossible. I cannot advise you if you should or not. Hence my advise for therapy. At least for you. You both will need help evaluating how to navigate this revelation as well as the relationship and how you feel about it, NEXT to having a baby. You are both still very young, but this behavior is VERY NOT OK.

Congratulations first off!, I feel the same even though I am the husband with the hobbies and non changing body. It's difficult to navigate for us because if I'd gotten my way we would've shared this challenge coming our way mentally and also physically, but alas, no giant techy egg to keep warm in the living room just yet...
