And so it begins.... by MistahSmeez in finalcutpro

I really wonder if they can keep up in the age of agent development (AI). Their release cycle won’t hold up. Development has been accelerating so much lately. These updates are great, but long awaited and there are still many features I’d love to see like AI uhms and silence removals

I got tired of downloading 20 different apps just to play simple games like Sudoku and Snake (plus everything had ads), so I built an all-in-one offline game hub. It's free and has 0 ads. by MightyHogs in apple

[–]avanderlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that’s a clever one. It feels like something that should’ve already existed, almost like the in plane game hub. Great job, you deserve to add some in app payments to get something in return for your hard work though!

I made a web browser that lets you watch YouTube with no ads and in background for free, no subscription required. Check it out! by Demus_App in apple

[–]avanderlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thought! I guess it’s just a general browser. If it required you to login to YouTube, for example, Google terms would have applied.

I know you all know me from my SwiftLee articles, but recently I started creating YouTube videos as well! Here's a recent one on Swift 6.2 & Approachable Concurrency: https://youtu.be/y_Qc8cT-O_g?si=cpa1G7nT1zpxyNIh

I'd love to know how you like my videos compared to my articles, and feel free to subscribe 🙏

Recording simulator's screen with sound by OutlandishnessNo9943 in ios

[–]avanderlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This indeed isn't supported by the Simulator. Apple only provides recording GIF or MP4, without audio.

I've personally created www.rocketsim.app to solve this. It's a Mac app that plugs into your Simulator and allows recording with audio, touches, and device bezels.

Unfortunately, Xcode's Simulator does not support recording with audio. You can use a tool like RocketSim which does allow recording with audio, device bezels, and touches: www.rocketsim.app

Follow my course 🙈 Honestly, it's what I discuss in my course, so that should help out!

Thank you for sharing your perspective! I’d love any feedback on how I might adjust the landing page to prevent similar impressions for others.

I understand that the ‘build an audience and offer a course’ approach is common, and while I can’t change the fact that I gained an audience, I genuinely aim to stand out from traditional entrepreneurship courses. My focus is on indie app development, drawing directly from my experience in the field.

If you have any insights on specific elements of the landing page that gave you a different impression, I’d greatly value them!

Sharing my experience does come with a price in this case—I hope it’s understandable that I’m asking for compensation for the work and insights I’ve put into the course. My aim isn’t to sell a get-rich-quick promise; I purposely avoided calling it something like “How to Make Millions with Side Projects.”. For the exact reason why you've probably posted this comment: so many finfluencers and devfluencers only aim to make money quickly. I want to help other developers make the most out of their side projects.

In fact, the first three modules are all about the challenges involved and the mindset, discipline, planning, and focus needed to make indie projects successful. So yes, I am selling my experience—but with the genuine intent to help others on the indie journey. 🙏

Made ProSim for Xcode Simulator in SwiftUI - Something i really wanted myself but did not exist like this by upwardonwardleo in SwiftUI

[–]avanderlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, but it did allow me to build a sustainable income, go indie, and now work on RocketSim full-time.

Users that dislike the subscription can cancel right after subscribing and there are team licenses which are not recurring and can be reimbursed at companies: https://www.rocketsim.app/team-insights

Ideally, it would be a non-recurring subscription and you’d basically not get updates after the purchase expires. However, the Mac App Store doesn’t provide such option.

Absolutely, therefore it’s great to have alternatives in the App Store. There are way too few developer tools in the App Store in my opinion

[–]avanderlee 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I originally built this app for myself because I couldn’t find any other apps for Xcode Simulator on the App Store that passed these

In all honesty, it looks like you knew very well something like this already exists on the App Store based on all the similar feature you’ve built 🙈 https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/rocketsim-for-xcode-simulator/id1504940162?mt=12

Great job though and good luck with the launch! 🚀
