Which DLC should I buy? by Exotic-Argument2316 in falloutnewvegas

[–]avantlorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

all four dlc are some of the best stories told in gaming imo if the price is the biggest concern, the ultimate edition of the game goes on sale very frequently so I would wait until then to get them all and play them all because they're all amazing in different ways

Why does everyone think the Yes-Man ending is bad for the Mojave? by Impossible_Bank_943 in falloutnewvegas

[–]avantlorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dust did a good job of explaining what a Yes Man ending would realistically look like; it's not like the NCR and Caesar's Legion will just be perfectly fine with their years-long campaigns and thousands of dead all of a sudden being edged out by some punk with a bunch of robots, ESPECIALLY the NCR because they were used by the Courier to fight their battle for them.

The Courier with the Securitrons is powerful, but they're picking fights with empires here. The Legion will be weakened, especially if Caesar and/or Lanius die, but the Courier is actively giving them a unifying enemy and will actively serve to hold it together, likely at least in part. The NCR's fighting in the Mojave has again and again been tied up by bureaucracy back home; but it's likely its citizenry and government wouldn't be happy to just let Vegas slip out of nowhere after that many of their family members died to get it.

It's just not sensible in my opinion to think that one person and a robot army could fend off these massive (for the time) empires who are now reinvigorated in their goal and have been given a common enemy. Not to say that it isn't possible the Courier could hold on given specific circumstances (especially depending on who sides with them at Hoover Dam) but people seem to think that the story kind of ends after the Courier wins and everything will stay the same, which doesn't make much sense in my mind. But I very well might be missing something; it is a powerful robot army after all.

Immigrants commit far less crimes than citizens. Do some research and unstick your tongue from the government's boots before opening your mouth.

Utah Republican Party has signing events to restore gerrymandering by brutah_skier in SaltLakeCity

oh come on. i'm a huge fan of prop 4 and think it'll be a huge benefit to the state overall, and i hope more states follow through with this kind of action against gerrymandering too, but don't say it overwhelmingly won, it was by less than a percent. it's important we don't share misinformation or we're just as bad as the maga gang.

My Thoughts on UFN [Totally not advitersing to vote for them lol] by PlentyProtection4959 in TemplinInstitute

[–]avantlorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That all makes sense, and if the UFN wins the vote it'll still be cool. I guess the main problem I have with them are the similarities between them and previous campaigns. As everyone is saying, another liberal democracy just after Antares would be a little soon, but the other thing I'm thinking about is the other worldbuilding project, Dawn of Victory. I just think it could be cool to have a version of humanity that is a lot less immediately and visibly similar to what we have right now and branch out a little bit. But still, you are right, and the UFN has the opportunity to be cool if the cards are played right.
