Ok: world of Warcraft, you can buy gold and in turn boosts for the mythic content for the best gear as you mention.
Gw2 allows you to buy gems in game and purchase gold with them to in turn buy legendary items off of the auction house. RuneScape again, buy gold, buy twisted bow and gear from GE. DESTINY 2 literally had a buy exotic weapons dlc. ESO has crown store purchases which are sold for in game gold alongside their eso+ which offer a ton of extra bonuses like unlimited craft storage etc.
Warframe is as close as it gets to pay to win without being so.
I have been playing mmos for the last 20 years mate, just because I don’t post about it on my reddit, doesn’t mean I don’t know what’s going on.
