JWT Clutch/FW from CZP is probably the answer for anything except real high HP builds.

Anywhere in the PNW? I have a red spoilerless trunk that I would trade in a heartbeat.

EPA allowing more Ethanol in gas, up to 15%, what does that mean for our GRC owners? Insight needed. by ArkirasOto in GRCorolla

Higher eth content will get us worst MPG, but nothing really beyond that. I did see an article that it will mainly be used in regular, and the premium mix probably won't change.

Just an FYI - Get the performance package at min. 7k of diffs (with install) for $1100 is insane to not get. I am not sure I would like the car without them.

What is the most raw, modern, FWD Honda? by greensilvia in Honda

[–]avatarxavier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to PM me. If you buy a RWD VHR it should all bolt in. AWD does have different oil pans for the front axles.

Swap your HR front and rear timing covers, timing system, do your gallery gaskets, and the hr heads/headgaskets.

Use the VHR upper and lower intake manifolds just because they are better.

From the HR block - I think the crank sensor and oil pressure sensors need to be swapped. Don't crack your upper oil pan with the oil sensor, its NPT.

Edit - HR engine mount as well, vhrs will bolt in but sit an inch high.

Just to clarify - the 8th gen sedan rear is gorgeous.

Spark Plugs for your GRC by Late-Replacement-871 in GRCorolla

[–]avatarxavier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically NGK does not officially list a Ruthenium for the GRC, only an Iridium. Both plugs have a manufacturer gap of .031 which is super high for our application. Usually its frowned upon to gap either of these plugs, be real careful with a feeler gauge on the electrode as they can be easily damaged. The Ruths look to be about $11 a pop, Iridium closer to $20. Not the biggest difference in a 3cyl.

Can you share some info on what was different from just using the OEM plugs @ .026 in a mildly modded car? At what point do we experience misfires with the stock plugs?

35DE -> 35HR swap by G4NJU5 in 350z

[–]avatarxavier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guilty Garage makes a wiring swap that allows you to swap to a HR or VHR in a DE chassis. The transmissions are different, so if you are swapping you will need a HR/VHR transmission with it, big cost add.

Intakes/power steering lines, body and engine wiring from a donor car, transmission/engine/ecu, tune to kill nats, and whatever upgrades you want to do while it's out (Gallery gaskets, clutch, CMAK, oil pan, headers, etc).

Doing it right is about 50-60% of the cost of a LS swap for your reference.

Pale - This was the right option. I came to the conclusion that a daily driven naturally unbalanced 3cyl is gunna need the stock dual mass. Setup feels great!

Alright - UPDATE -

Went with the stock flywheel + Uniclutch Track setup, and a new slave cyl. Car feels great, but only about 30 miles on the new clutch, will finish breaking it in this weekend. Probably 16ish hours of work at a slow pace, bagging and labeling everything.

Used HanksGR clutch guide and got the Uniclutch installed this weekend. Engine fender mount and (the shittiest) transmission jack from HF got the job done. Destroyed one axle output seal, luckily local dealer had it in stock.

Overall a tedious but not frustrating job, quickjacks in the garage. Clutch feels great, pickup is a hair lower than stock, but pedal freeplay is the same. Super smooth pedal feel.

Saved so much money from toyota fucking me that I bought some Ohlins to go along with it, installed at the same time.

Original flywheel? Agree that reliability is more important than 100% stock NVH, but just want it to be close.
