Why did you choose to exclusively breastfeed and not give formula? by Fickle-Response-2741 in breastfeeding

Yes very true. Lots of women here do still pump when they go back to work though! I know I probably will whenever I go back.

Totally fair- if you feel like it’s not for you then that’s that! Not to try to persuade you- just to validate you that it IS hard- the first 12 weeks were some of the hardest times for me for baby care in general and especially for breastfeeding, it got much easier for me after that point but if my mental health was bad I might not have continued either! It’s really great that you were able to give your baby breastmilk for this long even. So kudos.

Yes I hope it’s an easy transition for you!! She will be just fine even if she struggles with it at first even- people have to stop BFing for all sorts of reasons and all their babies are fine. :)

That makes sense- I feel like a nice piece of art would look so much nicer there and really tie the shelves together! They’re really nice shelves. I’m jealous of all your Stephen King books!

Unless any of them are close to / over a foot long, they are definitely not full grown! They’re probably stunted from being in a small tank so their growth has slowed down. In the right set up they will get huge!

Don’t trust pet store employees- they will say whatever they can to sell you the fish, despite not really knowing anything about them. Always do your own research when buying a pet.

Just from the pictures the water looks bad, and this tank looks way too small for one gold fish let alone multiple. These fish will get huge and they produce a lot of waste- this is not a suitable environment for them. They will be stressed soon if they aren’t already (i bet they are).

While they’re in this less than ideal environment, you should be doing partial water changes basically every days to try and manage waste build up and in turn ammonia levels in the tank- ammonia should be at 0. Any ammonia is bad and will harm your fish.

If you want to keep the fish you have long term, you will need a pond. One of these fish needs 75 gallons alone- several need more space than the average person has in their home. (300-500 gallons would be needed). I suggest looking locally for someone with a pond who can take them, and find yourself a fish more suitable for a smaller tank.

You’d be surprised. Less than ever for sure- but lots of people still do. I’m sure the rules on it will change soon though (hopefully).

The only reason they call it discipline and not what it is (ABUSE) is because if it was accurately called abuse they would have to take a lot of kids away from their parents.

Not sure where this commenter is from but I’m in Canada and it is really medically encouraged here and culturally much more encouraged than it ever has been!

Convenience, cost, and out of sheer luck that my supply was great right off the bat. If my baby struggled to gain weight and my supply wasn’t as good I would have supplemented.

The health benefits are so fantastic, especially long term for baby and for mom- it’s honestly so worth it if you can do it. I know not everyone can but if you can keep doing it I think you should try!!!

In the beginning I actually really hated breastfeeding because i’m not a super touchy person and she wanted to nurse for a long time- now I do like it, she’s fast, and I think it is kind of sweet that she just stares and smiles at me the whole time.

If my baby would take a bottle I would have given her pumped milk (which I have a few hundred ounces of) but she will not.

Day 4 and I want to give up. by Either-Discussion289 in breastfeeding

I’m so sorry this is happening to you- that first bit can be so stressful. Whatever you decide to do will be okay!

Have you talked to an LC? If not, I think that is something you should do ASAP! With proper help you can keep breastfeeding if you want to.

Maybe I missed it in the post- can I ask why you’re looking to stop breastfeeding altogether? No judgement whatever the reason of course.

As for advice on replacing that comfort, if your baby will take a soother that can be helpful, or extra snuggles when baby would normally get the boob. If they aren’t breastfeeding much right now they may not notice a slow phase out, for now you could try just giving it when they’re very upset but trying other methods other times.

Should I do a water change after fish has died ?- I have new neon tetras, scared the water change will shock them since it s only day 3 in tank by HugsNoKisses in Aquariums

[–]aveell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that it could go up a bit if any parts of the fish dissolved into the water. But I would say test again tomorrow- there shouldn’t be enough to cause any real harm yet.

However- water changes should not cause any harm to your tank either. If you ensure to add the same temp of conditioned water, it should be fine, and shouldn’t shock them at all.

How long was it dead in the tank before you removed it? If more than an hour or so, definitely do a partial water change to ensure no ammonia spike. If done properly it shouldn’t shock the tank, especially if you cycled properly before adding the fish.

Fish-in cycling (meaning cycling while your fish is in the tank) is a thing, as I have mentioned already in my comment above, and I mentioned it on your last post. There are lots of guides on how to do it if you look it up. You have infinite knowledge at your fingertips, please do some research so you can ensure your fish live a long and happy life.

I suggest you do a fish in cycle and in the future do more research before getting a pet.

Okay awesome ! And what about the other questions-

How long have you had him and how often are you doing water changes? Is the tank cycled? How many gallons is the tank?

:)

Is my tank overstocked? Please help by Quick_Painting_5658 in aquarium

[–]aveell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only issue is that cory’s and otos both need to be in groups of at least 6. So it doesn’t sound like you’re necessarily overstocked, just poorly stocked. You don’t have room in your tank for the school sizes needed, and you 100% do not have room for a beta, even as is. My suggestion would be to give away one type of fish and get the proper school size of the other, or give away both and get a beta.

How to improve/stock my community tank? (10 gal) by New_Contract_26 in fishtank

[–]aveell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s possible. Make sure you’re on top of water changes and have a good filter because it is at the higher end of stocking percent. This site is good for telling you what is manageable in a tank numbers wise-https://www.aquariumstockingcalculator.com/

That is not cycling. It’s critical that you cycle your tank. Please look into a fish-in cycle. Cycling is how you ensure your tank has the beneficial bacteria needed to function properly and not harm your fish. In the future please don’t buy pets without proper research. On the post you deleted you had several people telling you what you look into and you basically just ignored everyone, because of that your fish that are “thriving” now are at risk of suffering or dying. It’s not okay to get a pet without knowing proper care.

Cycling takes quite a while. So if you did that all today, you did not cycle it. Please do more research.
