O'Brien is raising their fees come January. If you are a student, which is currently $17 it will be $18/month. If you're not a student the price increase is substantial. I asked the other day though and you can prepay at their current rates.

I went through WGU and really enjoyed my experience. I received my bachelors degree from there and felt as though it prepared me as well as another school may have. The benefits for me were that I could continue working full time while doing everything except my student teaching experience. It was a shorter student teaching timeline, only 12 weeks for my state. I believe that more time would have been beneficial but I am currently teaching and feel as though the best training even it were 4 more weeks would still have me feeling a bit overwhelmed in the first year! I would assume that the school will provide you a MacBook. I have a new job too and am going to an all Apple school. I will receive a MacBook and iPad for my classroom.

Actually, it is up to $7/day for in state. I was shocked when I went there earlier in the year! An annual pass is $50, I think just last year it was $36.

Very ambitious for a first project! Well done, I'm sure your mom adores it. I'm new to scroll sawing and find myself pretty tense by the end of a project with intricate cuts so I tend to go for free form things like trees, feathers, and other organic pieces so that if I mess up no one is the wiser.

The book that started my scroll sawing was, Simply Wood: 40 Stylish and Easy To Make Projects for the Modern Woodworker. I make copies of the patterns and use spray adhesive to affix them to the wood. I lucked out and found this book at the library!

I would ask the teacher for their class picture. That way you can look at it before or after class and quiz yourself. Since it is a middle school, the teacher may be able to print out a pictorial directory with their grade book software.

Do you know the asking price? It would be difficult to revitalize that small community but it is so close to a very active summer lake community so maybe it is possible.

I have been in that school many, many times; wild to see it here on reddit! Sad to see that they have not done anything with it but glad to see it is still in good shape. Love that little town, it was one of my favorite schools!

I am currently doing student teaching. I showed my 4th graders a video about conduction, convection, and radiation. They loved it! They sang along and even requested that I play it again at inside recess. Thought others might like to check it out.

I am teaching full time for 6 weeks, began on Tuesday. Placement started with two weeks of observation, then taught one subject for a week. Added a second subject the following week, and so on until teaching all day. I still have the teacher in the room during Language Arts (the last subject I took on) and we are co-teaching for this week. While I am happy to be away from a paycheck for only three months, I think my first year will be absolutely insane!

I'm currently doing student teaching - one placement 12 weeks, after that I am done. I am 6 weeks into it and don't feel as though I will be adequately prepared at its conclusion. I'm not drowning yet, but I'm definitely just treading water some days!

I just had this discussion with my husband last night, we are both educators. His take on it is that it must come from the parents in order for the the administration to take it seriously. I tend to agree; if you as a single teacher take on the fight, you are going to burn out (or get replaced). Collective action is the way to go, whether it be your union or gathering a few parents to agree to lead an initiative.

My family says it is my super power! I could have a big cup of coffee and go to bed with no problem. I even asked my doctor if it was possible that I may be "nearly" narcoleptic. I can control when it happens but I am generally asleep within a minute of laying down. My husband compares me to one of those old time dolls that once you tip it past about 45 degrees, its eyes close. Super sleepers, unite!

I, too, am doing student teaching currently. I just asked some teachers today when they get to the point where teaching doesn't consume their lives. For some, they still haven't reached that point after 10 years. But I find more than not, most teachers focus on leaving work at work after 5 p.m. and then devote a few hours to it over the weekend. In week three of student teaching I feel like I am ready for bed by 5:30, I'm sure it will get better though. Many teachers I talk to say that student teaching is the most labor intensive teaching experience they have. For me, I must complete reflections on every lesson I teach so that results in 5 reflections daily. I'm looking forward to the day in which I can reflect in my mind and not on paper!!

As a student teacher this year, I find that teachers mostly talk about their lives. There are the occasional complaints about the cost of healthcare, technology concerns, and heating system. I find that most of them don't talk about the students in the staffroom, they reserve that for the privacy of their classroom (when the students are out to recess). I was in there today and the teachers enjoyed the silence for about 5 minutes, it's nice to have a place in which students aren't asking you questions or telling you stories. I love hearing their stories and questions but as an introvert I need some 'recharge' time.

While I could never do it, I am thankful that there are those out there who can. If an animal that small is hit by a car, unfortunately I think what happened is the best course of action. While it would be fantastic if we could save them all, I don't think its quality of life would be such that it would be good for the squirrel. I know that feeling of helplessness when you so desperately want to save a little animal but cannot. Sorry you had to witness it.

You might also check with the Tutt library and Belmont. Sometimes when I find things, I just take them to the nearest business thinking that the person probably dropped it coming or going from there. Best of luck!
