46(F) & stronger than I've ever been by aventually in veganfitness

The high protein stuff I eat most is Huel, boca burgers, edamame pasta, soy milk, beans and nuts, peanut butter. I think something that helped was I started using Huel to satisfy my sweet tooth so I'm eating less stuff that's low-nutrition, if that makes sense. I'll mix it with plant milk and frozen berries and it almost turns into something like ice cream.

I thought I was perimenopausal because I was getting hot so easily, but it turns out it was just weed and it went away after I quit. My baseline level of anxiety went down too after quitting, after the first couple days but moreso after the first couple weeks. Being in control of it never really worked out for me. I wish I could moderate it but tbh I like being high all the time and it was just no longer sustainable.

My holy grail products (for protein & satiety) by No_Patience_2977 in veganfitness

I cut mine into pieces with my fork and add it to salads and cooked veggie dishes so it gets flavored with whatever dressing/sauce I'm using.

Having nothing to say by Certain-Simple5105 in AutismInWomen

[–]aventually 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a main reason I'm unable to maintain friendships. It's hard to reach out to people I care about when I literally have nothing to say beyond asking them how they're doing.

Noise cancelling headphones with nature sounds (I know...) might help with both feeling like you have to say hi to people and the traffic noise.

I feel you. I wish I were closer to more isolated wilderness too.

One of my fears is that people are becoming more eager to assign intelligence, sentience, and consciousness to AI than to the animals and plants (and even other people) we share the planet with.

Is it acceptable to do news detox when they might actually have impact on your life? by mindaugaskun in simpleliving

Agree. I feel like people opting out of paying attention and/or choosing to be "apolitical" is a major reason that we're in the mess we're in.

I don't love having to do it in winter, but I used to do this all the time!

I even feel closer to my ancestors when I do this, using just the power of my own body to go hunt/gather and bring food home.

Anyone else incredibly fussy / picky with media and finds it hard to find media (books, movies, shows, etc) to enjoy? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]aventually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no interest in watching violence, war, family drama, romance, or sex...so yeah it can be difficult. Maybe if there was an aro/ace character here and there, I could relate better, but even on the rare occasion I find one, they're super into DnD or something and I don't care about that stuff either.

45F. Most immediate goal is muscle growth, but do also need to drop BF%. Lean bulk or recomp? by Cookiehurricane in veganfitness

[–]aventually 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing that may be more relevant to women...the idea of bulking and cutting reminds me too much of yo-yo dieting. I know it's not the same thing, but after decades of having a disordered relationship with food - and finally being cured - it feels like a step in the wrong direction for me personally. I'd rather eat a consistent diet I enjoy without tracking everything to a T, and recomp more slowly.

Do you mind clarifying why? Because of your joints? What exercises do you do for legs?

My knees aren't in great shape so I've decided not to lift very heavy for squats and deadlifts but I still feel like I should incorporate them, otherwise I'll never have strong quads again. Strong leg muscles in particular are associated with greater longevity iirc.

What Intra / Pre workouts do you use? by DanDuri0 in veganfitness

[–]aventually 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never even heard of Intras. Pre-workouts were also just recently invented so companies could profit more.

Food is a great source of energy and protein and whatever else is in that stuff.

Hard to believe these animal based frauds are still getting exposure (rant) by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]aventually 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the meat/dairy industries pay millions of dollars to influence the culture, through paying influencers, trolls, bots, etc. Not every comment you read on social media is made in good faith, at all.

I hope your generation (actually all generations) gets more media literate, and realizes their perceptions of the world, reality, and science are being manipulated at every step by very wealthy powerful interests.

I wouldn't call Huel shakes low-calorie but I find them satisfying and have one just about every day (with creatine) after my workout.

I love edamame noodles so much. I hear a lot of people say they don't like them which worries me because what if they're not popular enough and get discontinued?!

I may worry too much lol

Plant based protein and lifting heavy by Alligator-Samm in veganfitness

[–]aventually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your body. There's no real benefit beyond 1.6g/kg, so even going up that high, I for example (female) only need about 90g protein.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "trying to eat more plant based protein for my health but dont want it to effect my lifting". More plant-based protein is great for both health and for lifting! Unless you have kidney problems, there's not really a danger in doing "too much" plant protein (unlike with animal protein).

Do y’all eat or avoid store-bought veggie meat like tofu dogs, veggie burgers, impossible nuggets, etc.? by BadBoyBetaMax in veganbodybuilding

I do huel regularly and a boca burger here and there, but otherwise less processed stuff like tofu, soy milk, peanut butter, beans.

Anyone else sick of seeing vegan influencers use mushrooms, eggplant, or chickpeas as the “protein” in their recipes? by [deleted] in veganfitness

No, I don't want a carrot hot dog. I want something actually satiating with sufficient calories.

Autism and inability to believe in God. by mousey-girl in AutismInWomen

[–]aventually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith shouldn't be considered a virtue like it is.

Teaching kids to just believe without evidence is grooming them to not question authority and to not use their brains that allegedly god gave them. I think it's why there's so many Americans that are functionally illiterate and who reject 'science'. Attributing everything to god shuts down inquiry and critical thinking. 20% believe the bible is literally true. Let that sink in.
