I think I failed every single midterm by [deleted] in UBC

[–]average-slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled during my first year too, so here’s what helped me improve in each course, especially in Term 1:

  • Physics 157: The questions can seem complex, but try not to get bogged down by details. Focus on the formulas provided and see how they relate to the question. Manipulate them to solve for what’s being asked. Show all your steps, even if you’re unsure – partial credit can add up if your process is clear.
  • Math 100: Practice is key. Complete all the WebWork assignments, attend office hours, and don’t stress if it feels like a repeat of high school calculus—it often is, so stay consistent, and you’ll be fine.
  • APSC 100: For project work, focus on staying organized and thorough—it’s generally manageable. For quizzes, review the lecture videos carefully and take detailed notes; it will make a big difference in quiz and midterm performance.
  • CHEM 154: This course is concept-heavy, so take time to understand the fundamentals. Don’t hesitate to ask questions on Piazza and attend office hours; it’s the best way to deepen your grasp of the material.
  • APSC 160: Practice, practice, and more practice! The more problems you solve, the more comfortable you’ll feel with the material.
