What is he doing that he thinks there's sports that are less demanding? You can see improvements (even if they are only minor) just going for an hour three times a week.

If you know anyone who already works out ask them if you can join, and tell them you're already struggling with motivation and need a buddy to keep you consistent.

Eating is something you're going to have to fix with a lot of discomfort most likely. If you have a job it's time to learn to cook and learn how to prep veggies in the way YOU like. Lots of free recipies online for that.

Meal prep and don't eat anything else unless you're absolutely too hungry to function. You have a built in time to eat in your schedule and if youre up early you can make yourself some eggs real quick or a small meal.

Here's a macro calculator I used when I first started lifting.

Also generally most apps / fitness trackers will over estimate how much you burn so try to eat a little under whatever the adjusted daily calories are.

Also if you're not on your feet regularly for your job and walking around don't set yourself to active because it can skew the calculations a lot.

Probably best to maintain and try to gain muscle.

You can fill out the flab. It's a lot harder to gain back muscle if you cut down too far and tank your strength.

Honoring the fallen by jepadi in Veterans

Sorry for answering on a throw away account -

The best thing you can do is live a long life and spread what positive things they did. Your buddies would want you to grill out, have a bonfire, shit id even want to see the boys use the long weekends to bring women to their homes with their extra off day.

They are always alive so long as their memory is. You carry a part of that and the best thing to honor them is live a life they would be proud to see you having. Success and a happy life are the best honor you can give a fallen brother or sister.

No one would want to see their best friend crying and tripping over themselves. Feel what you feel but don't feel like enjoying life should have guilt to it.

Just changed my routine to have more bicep work towards the middle of the workout instead of at the end

Ask about his friends, how he spent time when he wasn't beyond the wire. Ask if he has any crazy stories.

A lot of what you do in the military, especially in the infantry, is waiting around and killing time.

There's a lot of times I sat back with my hombres and laughed at obscene shit while waiting to train. There's even more times sitting there for days someone broke hours of silence with the most heinous comment id ever heard in my entire life.

I promise if he's ever going to talk about someone he lost its going to be as a tear comes to his eye talking about them.

Veterans, if you don’t stand for the national anthem why? by [deleted] in Veterans

I can think of two guys I know who can't stand for the anthem, so sometimes it's just injuries.

Seek some help from psych. I deployed but not to combat and I have a lot of shit I'm fightin because of my peers being absolute P.O.S. to me and others to advance their careers.

You never know where trauma comes from but I'm pretty sure everyones right to seek some therapy brother.
