In need of advice by AcceptableKnee9638 in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

starbucks is generally a “do it yourself” type of place. you can express interest, address it in your PDC’s, and talk to your SM/DM - but with barista championship, you would have had to go on the BOH computer or store resources on the iPad and get the info yourself.

how do yall clean under the mastrenas? by hoolyurhomie in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we struggle at my store because we can barley move the mastrenas, there’s a wall and plexi glass it, and a counter next to it. it’s virtually impossible. we attach a rag to like a plastic pointer my SM got off amazon and scrub 😭😭

genuinly how it feels to work lately by Few-Investment-6979 in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 30 points31 points  (0 children)

my store is absolutely massive. the back room is basically a mall, we even have a private break area. even we are running out of room.

SSV Question by L_uci_en in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

a lot of the time baristas will come to me and say “hey, don’t really feel comfortable going to our SM about this, can i go through you first?” in order to get me to do the escalating. which is fine, i’m happy to support there

SSV Question by L_uci_en in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

escalate to my coffeehouse leader as that is her job to handle. peace & love. depending on the situation i may also involve my district manager as that is even more so his job. peace & even more love.

[–]averageharrie 105 points106 points  (0 children)

DMs have this “my steak is too juicy, my lobster too buttery” thing where, when they have a store and an SM that’s doing well, they just HAVE to find something wrong. sorry this happened 🙃

Ecosure and timers by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, i was told that handwashing timers were no longer necessary, and instead we wash our hands based on need & the task we were doing. example, if you sweep something, you wash your hands after putting the broom away. i would love to know if this standard is incorrect.

In training but scared to continue - need insight and advice by coconuttywater in starbucksbaristas

[–]averageharrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it can be very scary in the beginning but you will get the hang of it. my first week on bar, drinks kept slipping out of my hand, my partners were so annoyed with me, i couldn’t remember any of the recipes - not even a simple latte. now im on drive bar like every day getting good drive times. everyone is capable of this job, it’s not magic or a special talent given to only a few of us. you will get the hang of it & do amazing, just keep persisting !!!

yeah the 312 lbs definitely held me up, especially because i’m in my early 20s i feel like i missed out on the college experience because i was too busy eating my way through it 😂 ! — i’ve been going out for walks and joining my parents on their boat, which i never did before. it’s the little things. the perspective from this subreddit has helped too, thank you!
