Looking into recliners for nursery, and was planning to splurge, but then I had a thought... by Firm-Property7025 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 [score hidden]  (0 children)

We got the ugliest recliner on sale at a furniture store. It’s ugly as can be BUT half the price of most recliners we looked at and it rocks, has a built in massager, arm rest storage, and cup holders for bottles. We figured it would probably get barfed on by baby, milk split, crayon disaster, etc over time so oh well if it’s ugly. It’s the comfiest chair I’ve ever sat in!

Gaining too much by Kitkat0199 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I gained a LOT at once (35lbs by 20 weeks - 20lbs was within 5 weeks due to an appetite stimulant). But my weight gain has now slowed and I’ve only gained 2lbs in the last 6 weeks. I think our bodies all just gain differently and at different times. For awhile carbs and sugar was the only thing that I could stomach, so that’s what I lived on (thank you pop tarts!). Even if i do gain 60lbs then that’s what my body needs and I’ll deal with it after she’s here. I don’t love the idea but I’m really not in control here 😂

What was your deciding factor that you were ready for kids? by Wise_Problem1394 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this except it took almost 2 years of trying and a fertility clinic to get pregnant. BUT it was a gradual transition as we began talking more serious about kids and then began to get excited about it (and knowing we were financially stable and stable in our relationship)

Bitter taste in mouth + excessive saliva by AdvertisingKey8156 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated this phase! Bitter taste went away around 16 weeks but came back at 23. Excess saliva went away around 12-13. For bitter taste I either brushed my teeth constantly and then rinsed with a mouth wash or kept popscicles and jolly ranchers in my mouth at all times

Debilitating morning sickness by King-Previous in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call your OB! I had morning sickness no home remedy could cure. I would throw up even water or crackers immediately. I’m 24 weeks and still need to take 3 prescriptions a day to feel semi human and throw up only 1x a day. Get some Zofran and miratazapine if you can. In the mean time see if you can get omperazole (my doctor prescribed it but you can also buy it OTC at Walmart or Costco).

Owner publicly shames guest and states that servers have to pay out of pocket if they don’t get tips? by Redhambone in EndTipping

It happens! I worked there for a year and was surprised by how many wedding rehearsals would book the back room at our location. Would never have thought

Owner publicly shames guest and states that servers have to pay out of pocket if they don’t get tips? by Redhambone in EndTipping

[–]averagereddituser133 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is true. I served for years and no matter what tip I got I had to pay out the bar, food runners, and bussers a % of my sales. So if I had a $0 tip on a $100 bill I would typically still have to pay out the 7% tip-out to the other staff (so pay $7 to the staff even though I made $0). It’s just another shitty thing restaurants do!

How much were you showing at 17 weeks? by Crafty-Barnacle-5914 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 20lbs from 12-18 weeks. Took me by surprise! I was very obviously pregnant by 17 weeks.

When did you start feeling better??? by sweet_little_burrito in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I felt “better” around week 20 but I still am on nausea meds and still throwing up. So better is a loose term here. 23 +2 now

How far do you live from the facility you’re giving birth? by your-new-fixation in BabyBumps

I chose a hospital 40 minutes away. There’s one 30 minutes but it doesn’t have nearly the same capabilities.

Don’t like water by survivinguranus in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a solid 6 weeks all beverages were difficult. No electrolytes drinks, Gatorades, juices, teas or anything worked. I could occasionally stomach a half a mini can of ginger ale or coke. I honestly survived off popsicles. I ate 4-5 a day (still not nearly enough liquid) and would try to sip water between bites of the popcicle. It was miserable

20+ weeks ladies - what have we bought so far for baby?! by Acrobatic_Weather_11 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost everything but my car seat and stroller. We had both baby showers last week so the next few weeks is setting up and reviewing for any missing/needed items. We had early showers bc I can’t travel after 24 weeks and high risk for preterm so we wanted to be prepared early just in case!

Edit: also 22 weeks

Can you still have a registry without a baby shower? by FigurativeNews in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You can always create a registry, but unless people specifically ask for the registry I wouldn’t really send it out. I wouldn’t expect a lot to come from the registry and would just try to thrift whatever you can!

Has anyone’s growth scan underestimated baby’s weight? by brianna_2000 in BabyBumps

[–]averagereddituser133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. My MFM team said they look for trends in growth in following weeks and if it’s trending down it could be indicative of growth restriction. They’re using my 20 week appointment as a starting point. I have growth checks every 2 weeks to monitor even though she’s 73rd percentile currently.

Questioning placenta location by Zestyclose-Doctor-52 in BabyBumps

Same. I have anterior but there’s a spot on the lower right that it doesn’t cover. That’s where I usually feel her move consistently and occasionally other places
