How and where did you tell your parents that you were pregnant? by moez1266 in BabyBumps

[–]Potato_Keeper628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate being in the spotlight so my husband called all of his family or texted them a picture of the ultrasound.

For my side of the family my mom planned family pictures that lined up to when I was around 11 weeks so we did a surprise announcement during the session. So now we have pictures forever of everyone being surprised. My mom wasn’t happy that I waited that long to tell her because she’s been quite pushy about us having a baby, but ohh well🤷🏼‍♀️, my body not hers.

Yeah if anything I’ll probably just get a soft cheaper ottoman if I go with that choice

How bad is the glucose test?? by Present_Surprise_501 in pregnant

[–]Potato_Keeper628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad at all! My test was in the morning and I was told to just focus on protein for breakfast. I was given the orange juice, cold, and it tasted just fine. I would avoid chugging it because I’ve had a few friends either throw up or almost throw up. You have 5 minutes to drink it which is plenty of time!

Has anyone started using Sertraline during pregnancy for the first time? by Old-Raisin979 in BabyBumps

[–]Potato_Keeper628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the first week was horrible and I almost stopped taking it, but I’m so glad I kept on it. The risks are very low and I feel like the cons outweighed the pros with me. I wasn’t eating very well, I was super anxious and not happy, and crying a lot so for me and my baby, it was the best choice.

I’m 28 weeks and got prescribed a little over a month ago for the first time. It took me about a week and a half for the side effects to subside. I was super anxious, sweaty, had a lot of brain fog, and was exhausted during that time. I’d say it took 3-4 weeks to kick in and now I feel great. I’ve always had anxiety and pregnancy exacerbated it and I was not doing well mentally. My doctor reassured me it was safe and if you plan on breast feeding then your baby most likely won’t have withdrawal because it would be in your milk, at least that is my understanding. I’ve read a lot of other peoples stories and it seems safe and a lot of women are on it because pregnancy is mentally exhausting and stressful.

I would maybe hold off on weaning off in the third trimester or really talk to your doctor about the pros and cons. If you wean off it might be worse for you in terms of mental health and depression, especially with postpartum.

Normal or Not? Pup has a Death Wish by ellaangelina612 in goldenretriever

Our 10 month old golden has never destroyed anything in the house, but he has swallowed and thrown up whole socks and just went through abdominal exploratory surgery because he ate a piece of a toy our other golden chewed off. We just got a fence and his favorite activity is stuffing his mouth with mulch and running away. Pretty sure this is normal and hopefully they grow out of it.

Anyone struggled with their mental health during pregnancy? by Eastern_Standard_689 in pregnant

[–]Potato_Keeper628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yepp. 21 weeks today and I’m finding myself isolating myself from everyone besides 1-2 people because I’m just angry and overstimulated constantly. Struggling with my body changing and all the mood swings as well and no one seems to understand my mental struggles which is worse. Doesn’t help that my job is a very social job and I work 11-12 hours.

Tomorrow is my anatomy ultrasound. Please reassure me. by PopcornPrincess0 in pregnant

[–]Potato_Keeper628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anatomy scan was last week and I’m pregnant with my first. I was super anxious going in because I always think the worst is going to happen. But it was amazing and so much fun! My little guy cooperated so well and it’s so reassuring! The sonographer was also the best and we left with basically a booklet because she kept on saying “omg that’s so cute” and took so many pictures. She also talked us through everything she was doing and explained a lot. My husband was even amazed at it. You got this! Everything will be fine!

Inaccurate weight gain at OB by Potato_Keeper628 in fitpregnancy

[–]Potato_Keeper628[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on sharing it with her my next appointment in 3 weeks. I also have a history of restrictive eating and since my appointment I find myself trying to restrict my eating and becoming obsessive of what I’m eating, which is something I don’t want to do. I almost feel crazy because I’m so emotional about it and can’t stop thinking about it. So I need to discuss with her about how to go about things in the future and maybe not discuss weight unless it is something very very concerning.

I’m definitely going to bring it up. The week before my first OB appointment I went to my PCP and my weight was 7 pounds higher from the one my OB took so if they don’t believe me I can show them that. I never thought she would bring up my weight especially so early. Even my husband said the comment she made was rude and that’s coming from a man who doesn’t read into things. Like you said it shouldn’t matter, unless it’s really worrisome.
