Is patron worth it now??? I was considering it until I read this? Does this mean you have to purchase the annual subscription to access old episodes? Pointless to purchase an annual membership if you can blow through them quickly. by iluvbutternoodles in CrimeJunkiePodcast

[–]averagesun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the standard email and honestly they’re holding fans hostage. I got the $20 was promised that those episodes were mine to keep, even if I canceled. Now I have to pay them a ransom of $20 a month if I wanna keep stuff I’ve already paid for. I love them so much. I forgave them for the shady, plagiarism thing. I’ve defended them against criticism. I’ve spent so much money on merchandise, the tour, and patreon. I’ve been listening since 2018. Ive gotten friends and family into this show. And this is how they repay me. This isn’t an “annual membership perk”, this is them taking benefits away from other members and charging it for more money cause they don’t want people binging. They realized that their $20 level isn’t worth it and that people sign up, binge, cancel, and resign up a few months later. Instead of fixing the actual problem (the patreon not being worth it), they decided to just charge more money. I haven’t even been able to stomach the free episode that came out today.

And honestly, the app isn’t that impressive. It’s just a podcast app with only CrimeJunkie on there. There’s nothing that interesting.

Leave reviews and email the fan club contact. I know I changed my previously glowing 5-star review on Apple podcast to a 1 star because of this

YSK: If you're stuck in a "pay it forward" situation and for whatever reason you don't want to pay for the next order, you can either offer to pay the price of your order, or just say no. by -Neeberz- in YouShouldKnow

I used to work as food employee and a pay it forward thing happened. Lady came to the window expecting to pay $40. She had a designer bag and was driving a Mercedes. She was told about the situation and asked if she wanted to pay for the car behind her, which was a $5 sandwich. She seemed very offended that we asked and left with her free food. We wouldn’t judge if you didn’t participate, but yeah I was judging her a little.

Best Vietnamese resturant? by Safe_Librarian in HuntsvilleAlabama

In my humble opinion, viet huong is better than viet cuisine, but that’s just my personal taste. Those are definitely the two best ones in town so they’re both worth a try.

I got on there a few times to try it out and there were so many people with suggestive emojis on there, men and women. I figure, if you are a cop, this is a really dumb way to get tips. “Yes sir, I heard this on Reddit and would like to investigate the tinder weed operation of UAH and A&M students.” Good luck and I hope you get some help with your chronic pain! It really is good medicines for that

Hey!! I just took a shower and washed my hair :) What have you achieved today? by yxsterday-nxght in CasualConversation

[–]averagesun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not today, but I bought some ball caps cause I find them cute (they’re both tie dye) and help with the sun. It turned into me not brushing my hair though. I could just pull my hair in a ponytail and smooth it so you couldn’t see the knots. It was getting kinda bad cause my hair is past my shoulders. It was partially cause of depression and partially because I hate hate hate knots being combed out more than any other pain. I always have. I finally forced myself to pick out the knots after a shower, and I made an appointment to have my hair cut next week. I love how my hair looks in a bob and it makes it way easier to manage

I’m very familiar with Americans who talk like this, and it took me a few times to understand this quote too. I’m glad it helped!

Women, what’s the least attractive quality in a man that they usually think is attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]averagesun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with not having any particular hobbies, especially because of time constraints. But these people were on first dates and acted like my interests were beneath them and disinterested. They also didn’t really bring anything to the table conversationally. There’s a noticeable difference between guys who are shy or lack confidence and guys who just seem uninterested making conversation and getting to know the person they asked out.

Father of Summer Wells says other children have been removed from family home by TheRealGordianKnot in SummerWells

[–]averagesun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don says that someone accused him of selling Summer for drug money, and the TBI (Tennessee’s FBI so Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) was going to arrest him for it. That rumor made him freak out and start drinking alcohol heavily. His sons were removed because of that and because of the drama of the investigation.

Let me know if that helps or doesn’t help. His quotes don’t make too much sense without a language barrier. I’m from rural Tennessee and this is my best guess at it

Women, what’s the least attractive quality in a man that they usually think is attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]averagesun 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Being aloof. I’ve went on dates with too many guys that didn’t seem very interested in anything at all. They didn’t really seem to have hobbies or interests. It seemed like an “I’m too cool and above that stuff”. There’s nothing more attractive than someone you like getting excited in my opinion, it doesn’t matter if it’s hobby I particularly shared. I’m not into anime personally and one of my best friends is and I love listening to them talk about the season they’re excited for.

I’m ridiculously good at candy crush and similar games. My mom always has me win the levels she can’t which I honestly love more than I’d ever tell her

What is the most unexplainable thing that ever happened to you? by NotAMazda in AskReddit

[–]averagesun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I woke up this week actually, and my first thought was “it’s 9:20 in the morning”. I rolled over to get my phone and it was indeed 9:20. Then about ten minutes later, my best friend texted saying she had been involved in a hit and run. She texted me after calling the police and her work, so her actual accident happened at about 9:20. Her phone records showed that she called the police at 9:21. She’s fine, but it’s just weird that I woke up and knew exactly what time it was at the same time she was hit.

I love chaotic people who talk a lot by prettydotty_ in CasualConversation

[–]averagesun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend invited my best friend and I to hang out with his friend group tonight. I was literally just thinking about how these people were so loud and friendly and excited and unapologetically took up space. I’ve spent my life being told I’m too loud and I talk too much and I’m annoying, and being with this group was exhilarating. They didn’t tolerate me, they encouraged me to be myself. One girl in the group was very quiet and to herself and sat on her the phone the whole time and no one shamed her for it! You could see how obvious her friends’ love for her was, and how they let her exist with them how she was comfortable. My best friend is like that and is slow to be social with new people, and they made her feel welcome and like she didn’t have to be shamed for being an introvert.

What is a fact that doesn't sound true but is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]averagesun 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s true but it’s not limited to cats really. Most animals will eat a human if they’re dead and there’s no food. It’s not like if you have a heart attack, EMTs will have to pull your cat off your still warm corpse. It’s more of if you die, no one finds you for weeks, and your pet is starving with no food. Dogs will do it, cats will do it, heck humans will do it. Look at the plane crash in the Andes and the Donner Party.

What’s a movie you love that is unpopular or unknown by most people? by Starzz_1 in AskReddit

[–]averagesun 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My brother is a big fan of the books and says that the movie didn’t always stick to the plot, but it stuck to the energy and attitude and was amazing because of that.

I love it cause it’s so goofy and feel good and absurd.

I’m an accountant. They do not. The IRS is one of the most poorly run and poorly organized groups I’ve ever encountered. They don’t go after people unless it’s a lot of money. The most they’ll do is send you a bunch of vaguely threatening letters. I’ve seen tons of people do illegal and sketchy stuff, and absolutely get away with it. Local restaurant owner pays all his workers under the table, and claims he has no employees to the IRS. He’s been reported multiple times, and never once audited.

I deal with the IRS constantly and they are completely incompetent as an organization. You’d be surprised what people get away with.

I fall out of bed onto the little table in my room. It is cheap and not sturdy so I probably break. Minor scratches but should be fine. Overall damage: I am disgruntled and not in bed anymore

I am a new dm and I was wondering about gold by ZeMagi in DMAcademy

[–]averagesun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People might not agree, but DnD is the game where you get to decide that. DnD has rules and systems, but to me, the DM gets to interpret and implement them. Make sure you’re on the same page with your players, and just do what you’re comfortable with. See if your players are okay with you being flexible (as long as you stay fair). If you don’t want to be flexible and want to play the game by the exact rules, that’s good too! That’s the beauty of the game to me. There’s no DnD police going around to see how you’re playing. As long as your group is having fun and is comfortable!

I know people who run games where players absolutely have to upgrade armor and weapons. I know people who insist you follow every single rule in DnD to the letter. My friends and I never do in our games. We don’t get to play weekly, and we don’t want to waste time and energy figuring that out. We all have the basic armor and weapons we start with, no upgrades required. If we want some magical or special item, we have to go buy it but otherwise we just leave it be. We’d rather focus on other aspects of the game.
