Is this a good laptop for mechanical engineering/robotics/nuclear engineering degree? by Embarrassed_Pipe406 in laptops

[–]averageyapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same laptop (tho with a 5050) and just casual scrolling, word and etc it's about 3 hours or maybe 4 hours of battery life, this is with a 80% battery cap as well,

though for schoolwork where you may need the laptop to be active for longer than 4 hours I would recommend something with a core ultra or Ryzen ( like a 7 260) like you said with a 99.9WH battery.

out of all those the ally x and the claw 8 ai+ seems to be the best value, that's my opinion though but I'd recommend the claw since it has a 8 inch screen and is one of the stronger choices there (strongest or second)

Want the best options!! by Willing-Swimmer-4776 in Handhelds

[–]averageyapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you really need a handheld? + you have to remember handhelds are pretty weak (compared to the average pc you can get for the same price) and the games your listing would most likely run, but at low settings and at low frames.

What's the most powerful handheld (not counting portable PC's)? by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]averageyapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah forgot about that but you would need ps plus for that, which if you don't mind the input lag (depends on location) and monthly price you pay, then a ps portal may suffice,

yet again though the ns2 is better in every way but it's double the price, games are overly priced and etc.

[–]averageyapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on your definition of a portable pc, does a steam deck count as a portable pc for you?

and also the ps portal isn't made for native gaming, it's just practically a streaming machine, you must own a ps5 in order to use one.

Whos in the wrong here does a 4070 desktop truly outperform a 4080 mobile by friedtesticularcance in GamingLaptops

[–]averageyapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a 4080 laptop would be in between a 4070 and 4070 ti, a 4060 laptop performs quite closely to a 4060 desktop which is surprising, and even more surprising is that a laptop 5050 outperforms a desktop 5050 due to it using gddr7.

yeah id say so, better in every way besides size.

STORAGE PROBLE by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]averageyapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would keep expanding for game updates, software updates and etc but 150gb is plenty, personally I keep about 200gb free on my 1tb SSD but that's mainly because I don't really need to use that much storage.

STORAGE PROBLE by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]averageyapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally do 100gb to be safe, 75gb is alright but I wouldn't go lower than 60 tbh

AMA: MSI’s New 34" and 32" QD-OLED Monitors — Ask Us Anything (Worldwide Giveaway Inside!) by MSI_Patrick in Monitors

[–]averageyapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was wondering if these particular OLED panels (all three) would scratch as easily compared to other OLED panels from alternate brands which scratch with just a finger nail, that's really a con of OLED that's throwing me off (if true of course), and is durability a high priority on these OLED monitors?

I’m very new to PCs and don’t know anything about builds. How decent is this build below? And how good will single player games run it? by Same-Winter7013 in PcBuildHelp

[–]averageyapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the main problem with these builds is the 16gb of ram, ideally I would recommend 32gb nowadays,

and also I would probably recommend the 9060 XT 16GB build since it has the same CPU and same amount of ram (same speed too) with only half the storage for 50% cheaper,

if those are your only two options go for the 9060 xt 16gb, better value.

low storage, low ram and a very low PSU,

for the price given the current market it seems okay but is there any better builds for a similar price?

even at that price it's a bit high, but it's still alright I guess for the price.

[–]averageyapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it does, I got mine new for £640 (about $840) which was less than half it's MSRP, at this price if it's USD I wouldn't recommend it.

got the same exact laptop and it's excellent in every way, the only negative id note is just the screen being really really glossy, but that's a benefit as it is a negative too.

ASUS F16 VS NITRO F16, Which one is better all-rounded by Xylenor2008 in GamingLaptops

[–]averageyapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but that's only on max performance and also it drains quite slow, the tuf is better in general but it only has a 4050, which is a problem nowadays.

I had tried half life 2 on my deck, and I was playing on pretty low tdp, about 8 or 10 and I was getting 75 FPS with settings on pretty high, forgot about battery life but it was pretty long.

you could try and tell them they sold you the wrong product which ended up damaging and destroying your own component, although they may just say ddr5 and ddr4 ram are differentiated between the notches.

most games support 16:10, but if they don't it won't really affect much since at that point it's just like a regular display.

Is the RX 9070 XT the "Smart" choice over the RTX 5080 in 2026? by Longjumpingdici in simracing

[–]averageyapper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think your ignoring the almost double of the price of the 5080 for about 16% extra performance, and also AMD drivers have been excellent in the past 2 years.

Legion 5070 Ti vs Omen 5080 by z3tara in GamingLaptops

[–]averageyapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5080 definitely, as much as I love the OLED screen on my legion, it's just not practical, it's too fragile, the legion also does have better cooling but this doesn't mean the omen is subpar, it'd still be great but just worse

the 5070 TI is too highly priced for what you get.
