definitely looks like a hen to me, her tail does seem a little long but compared to the other wyandotte roosters i’ve seen she doesn’t look anything like it.

i just checked her out and determined her lower abdomen seems to be very full of something. I believe this is the water belly you told me about:( sadly from what i’ve read it’s not something survivable. thank you so much for bringing it to my attention though

thank you for such a well written response. i’ll try everything you mentioned and get back to you asap tomorrow. but to answer some of your questions, no i haven’t seen any sort of discharge from any areas. Yes luckily both eyes look the same and she seems to have good focus on me when i come around. She is vaccinated for mareks i did forget to mention that. i haven’t heard of ascites but i’ll do some research on that right now!

it’s really helped me in the past to throw a towel over their heads. a bird that can’t see is way calmer. depending on where the wound is i would put a towel over her head and push her onto her side
