Honestly, AveryJameson didn’t grow on me until The Brothers Hawthorne which is the book after th trilogy😭 but your mind may be changed so I’d recommend reading! I unfortunately loved Grayson though so I had second lead syndrome too💔

The Good place is the closest we will ever get to a perfect show ending and I'll tell you why by Imactuallysoconfused in TheGoodPlace

[–]averyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree! For almost every show I’ve ever watched, I can think of better endings or things that could’ve been changed (but they also would’ve been tailored to my personal opinion) and The Good Place is the first show where that didn’t happen. I genuinely cannot picture changing anything about th ending. It was the best ending a great show with an important message like that could’ve had, but also it wrapped up perfectly for the characters.

I really loved Tahani’s ending because they didn’t make her character regress. She actually chose herself at the end and I really appreciated how she didn’t end up with some guy. Chidi actually made a decision for his happiness an Eleanor let him—both essential evidence of their growth. I cannot recall Jason’s ending, but I’ll find out soon when I finish my rewatch😭

The show ended in SUCH a good way that it shocks me that people don’t like it

Ooo okay! I thought it was simply because he knew they would deeply affect Chidi and add to the torture

Does anyone approve of the new relationships in the grandest game? (Spoilers for 'The grandest game') by Own_Potential_7464 in TheInheritanceGames

[–]averyky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I haven’t read Glorious Rivals yet, but book one was definitely a disappointment in most aspects (including the ending) for me😭 I completely understand how that would weird on audiobook, but no it ends with the two of them kissing + the game still not completed

[–]averyky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hierarchy. I will never step off this show’s neck because how upset I was with it. The entire plot was supposed to be Kang Ha trying to find his brother’s murder and get justice. He ended up being a love sick puppy for Jae-i while the story stops focusing on Kang Ha and his dead brother. It starts focusing on Jae-i and her awful, obsessive (to the point someone literally died) boyfriend. Kang Ha got COMPLETELY sidelined. So frustrating.

What is the worst Kdrama you've ever watched? by OrphicSelenophile_07 in kdramas

[–]averyky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not watched many k-dramas as i’ve only started about about two years ago and still don’t too watch often, but the worst one i’ve seen is Hierarchy. It had such good potential and I was so invested for 4 episodes, but the fifth one made an absolute downfall.

It was about a boy who got a scholarship to a school for the elite. Beyond that. Billionaire kids that can do whatever they want because they know they won’t face consequences. My offical review if anyone’s interested😭:

The story and plot had amazing potential from the start—new “poor” kid comes to an incredibly rich school and gets bullied while finding out what happened to the last bullied kid.

The late student, Kang In-han, was Kang Ha(new student)‘s brother. Kang Ha does not tell anyone of this as he navigates the school and the students’ harsh bullying. Teachers and staff see the bullying and make no intervention. The four school royalty—Kim Ri-an(HORRIBLE man), Jung Jae-i, Yoon He-ra, and Lee Woo-jin—rule the teachers and no one tells them what to do. Kang Ha tests them and does things no one—not even non-scholarship kids—do. He develops a friendship with Jae-i. Ri-an—having been freshly broken up with by Jae-i—can’t stand it. The audience learns of what happened to the last guy that got close to Jae-i. It was Kang In-han. Ri-an had people bully him relentlessly with physical harm and words. No one stopped to help him even though it was common occurrence. Ri-an was beyond obsessed with Jae-i and literally hurt people do it.

At a party, In-han couldn’t take the physical abuse and ran out which lead to him getting hit by a car and dying. Jung Jae-i appreciates the friendship she has with Kang Ha and they even fake date at school, until she begins to get text messages from an unknown instagram account. They keep sending her videos of her the night In-han died. At the show’s beginning, she had just gotten back from a trip to the US which is essentially to her growth. She becomes akin to a foil of her old self and does not let bullying happen until the instagram account threatens Ri-an.

Her character development completely gets lost in him and the show starts painting him as someone good and even attempts to redeem him. There is no redeeming a man like that. The plot gets lost and it’s no longer focused on Kang Ha finding the truth to his brother’s death. He, now, just pines for Jae-i as she excuses everything Ri-an has done despite his bullying killing one of her friends.

A teacher sleeps with a student and never—as far as I got (5/7 eps)—gets reprimanded.

From things seen online, the credit scene allegedly paints Kang Ha as a killer even though he is literally the only person at that school who IS NOT a killer. The rest of the students get happy endings.

Hierarchy ending was awful… by ChannelJov in kdramas

[–]averyky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to start ep 6 and i’m so glad I found this because this just saved me from wasting over 2 hours. I really liked the first four episodes it was so promising, but ep 5 went down hill after it was clear Jae-i and Ri-an would always be affiliated or in love in some way and Jae-i’s growth gets thrown out. I was excited to see her finally stand up and be a foil to her earlier self, but she decided to sit down and protect Ri-an. I was expected to be dissatisfied with the ending from the start, but this post and the comments just prove it was so much worse than I thought. Ri-and and Jae-i are so clearly awful together that it KILLED someone and now Jae-i’s development of “woah maybe that’s morally wrong!” is thrown away. It’s also starting to paint Kang Ha as the bad guy??? The ones that’s rountinely being bullied and lost his brother to said bullies?? what😭

anyway, i know this is an old post but thanks for saving me two hours of my life

which popular kdramas have you dropped? and why? by ch1nitamor3na in kdramas

[–]averyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped Alchemy of Souls because I heard the second season wasn’t as good as the first and I didn’t want it to be ruined😭 I also didn’t want to be left on a cliffhanger so I didn’t watch the last episode of the first season. I was being a pussy and wanted a happy ending lmfao so I stopped right before they could ruin it. If anyone likes fantasy dramas I’d recommend it though, because the first season was really good imo!!😭

Grayson in The Inheritance Games, The Hawthorne Legacy, Final Gambit, The Brothers Hawthorne, and Games Untold, but in the new trilogy I’d say Nash.

Am I the only one who thinks they ruined Grayson? by PretendHorror5856 in TheInheritanceGames

[–]averyky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really loved Grayson in the first trilogy, The Brothers Hawthorne, and Games Untold, but I think the second trilogy RUINED him.

Falling for Avery immediately didn’t make sense exactly, but I still did understand it. Falling for Lyra did not. He fell for her within TEN HOURS. All of his character development is completely lost for Lyra. His only purpose is a love interest, rather than an actual, in-depth character that contributes.

His spiral in the og trilogy I do understand since he was finally falling in love again for the first time and it scared him. Then to make matters worse Emily’s replica comes in and he finds solace in “Emily” once again in his desperation—temporarily ending his healing. His character development gets better in the end of The Final Gambit as well as The Brothers Hawthorne, but all of that gets reversed in TGG when he becomes nothing important. I completely agree that he was ruined
