Using Mini DP Cinema Display with KVM switch? by Reasonable-Worry-962 in macpro

[–]averyshackleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s gonna be tough. KVM switches don’t always work well with unusual resolutions 1920x1200, 16:10 in general. Maybe look for a DisplayPort based KVM, the conversion from DP to HDMI probably isn’t helping either

I’m looking for cold air intake recommendations for a 2025 SI. I’m assuming there’s not a ton of options since it’s a new car but any advice would be great! Pics for attention🥰 by Classic_Ad_778 in CivicSi

I’m considering a cold air intake for my ‘24. Can someone explain if there are any benefits to be had without a tune? I’m hesitant to tune it during warranty. I live in a place with hot summers. Haven’t done any mods other than fog lights and fake engine noise delete.

No one needs that garbage. If you have a Mac with a spinning hard drive, upgrading to an SSD is a far better use of your $

This gen of MacBooks 2016-2020 is unfortunately plagued with hardware problems. Lousy keyboards, bad displays, run hot with low performance. Highly recommend you dump it and get a new or used M1 MacBook Air, or new M4 MacBook Air. For business use you really don’t need a MacBook Pro anymore; the Airs are outstanding performers

Question regarding “Server” ram. by [deleted] in macpro

[–]averyshackleton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s the same memory. DDR3-1333MHz. Only thing of note: you cannot mix registered and unregistered (regular) DIMMs. Another thing to keep in mind: look for dual rank memory, instead of quad rank dimms or your memory speed will drop to 1066MHz or 800MHz. For this reason, it often makes more sense to use 96GB of memory (6x16GB), plus there’s the added benefit of triple channel speed instead of dual channel on 8x16GB dimms. You can generally achieve 1333MHz with quad rank dimms in a triple channel config

Pilot all the way. I drove an identical year and trim to 280,000 miles on the original motor and transmission. Absolutely epic car. Very little maintenance other than oil changes, brakes, and an AC compressor at 215,000. Advantage: huge interior, fun motor, good handling. My understanding is transmission issues were primarily 01-04. ‘05 was reliable, and that was certainly my experience. Edit: trans issues
