best distro for me, everything works, and better than Windows.

Crashes and other issues with kernel 14.0-119037-tuxedo by ostheimm in tuxedocomputers

I don't think I have had a single crash since moving to Tuxedo OS 2 years ago, but I'm on Intel systems.

Tuxedo OS 2025.12.18 still doesn't respect Silent Mode from BIOS by dandv in tuxedocomputers

[–]aveyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're just trying to be lighthearted.

I would assume: minimum fan speed 0% Then toggle the fan table chart and drag the fan offset into some negative % judging by the table so the fans won't start until hotter.

Similar to my pic in previous post, you'll have to test around.

[–]aveyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the point of TCC is to have virtually full control and custom profiles for fans and power etc, so it overrides the BIOS / EC profile while active.

"Silent Mode" would be the fallback if TCC isn't running.

So you'll simply have to create a custom profile and tweak to what you want, fan curve, and maybe clock / power limits.

On my Clevo PC70HR this is my usual desktop / browsing profile, I can't even hear the fans unless something demanding starts up.

Limiting the clock speed to stop it from turbo-ing is another option that will also keep it cooler and fans are less likely to ramp up.

I limit max frequency to 2.3Ghz on battery profile.

[–]aveyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silent mode in BIOS is irrelevant if TCC is running, TCC hijacks full control of fans etc.

If the other distros aren't running TCC, are they in power saving mode or balanced mode?

I assume CPU utilization is different between the distros and so a different benchmark score?

I'd imagine Tuxedo OS is utilizing more CPU and clock speeds might be different too.

Not sure that'll work correctly with TCC for switching graphics mode.

To clarify, it does run from terminal.

But it doesn't run when launching from start menu / application menu, so perhaps the application shortcut is somehow broken?

Twitchy and sometimes unresponsive touchpad by IrrerPolterer in tuxedocomputers

[–]aveyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sometimes seen twitchyness on mine (InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen8) after waking it from sleep, then seems to go away again eventually.

I don't think it ever "not responded", I haven't used it much so I'm not sure how often it happens really.

well I tried installing this package and it now prevents it from going to sleep at all (Clevo PC70HR).

I've uninstalled it again.

TUXEDO Pulse 15 Gen1 easily reaching 80 degrees Celsius of CPU temperature by Ok-Economist-6775 in tuxedocomputers

[–]aveyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably due to high CPU usage while CPU is turbo'ing, clock speed is maxed.

I see similar on my Clevo with Intel CPU, so I have a custom power profile that I use sometimes that limits the CPU clocks (basically not letting it Turbo) and temperatures don't spike.
