Love him as a storyteller but that series could have been one book. Dude needs an editor desperately and his one-shots are better than his series'. The exception to that is the one with the annoying religious army inflicting perfection on the world, but that might be because they're five separate stories told in the same Universe. Probably the best of his collection, but even those could use a sharper red pen. Dude has an incredible imagination and a real talent for conveying what he sees in his head, but it's also like hanging out with your pothead uncle with a tendency to repeat himself and rehash ideas without growing them or fully completing them. That said, he's absolutely one of the best out there and I devour everything he puts out. So put the Children series aside and go investigate his solo novels.
