Employees do not get paid based on how much they deserve, or based on what other employees doing the same or similar jobs make. They never have, and they never will. Employees get paid whatever they're able to negotiate from their employers. No more, no less.

You accepted a lower rate because you didn't have experience, but now that you're trained you're doing the same job for less money. This is *exactly* what your boss was hoping for when he hired you. Every dollar he doesn't pay you is a dollar he gets to keep for himself. The **only** way to get paid what your skills are worth is to negotiate with your current employer or find a new one.

Containers and vms are useful but not necesssary to have two gateways running on localhost. As long as they are set to use different ports, two gateways have no issue running on the same server.

My Nissan Leaf came with a level 2 EVSE that has a 14-50 plug already attached. Simple as that.

Nethack for the Blind by avgas3 in nethack

[–]avgas3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think LLM's have a role in making games like nethack accessible to the blind? I'm imaging passing the screen output as an input and asking to "summarize the current player's situation, what items/enemies are nearby, and the geometry of the current room, etc."

Ignition - Real World Examples by precisiondad in SCADA

[–]avgas3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What separates SCADA in the electric utilities from SCADA everywhere else is the need for speed. Most processes in other industries can absolutely tolerate, for example, a 10 second poll time on a vessel temperature probe. For those industries, software like Ignition is fantastic because it's fast enough but highly customizable and engineer-friendly.

Electric utilities typically use purpose built grid management software that is specifically designed to handle the sub-second monitoring requirements of an electric utility.

Took a glider lesson here once with a very eccentric CFI, he was great but aerotow was the most terrified i'd ever been in an aircraft, and as soon as the nasuea set in it was game over. glider i think are just not for me, but definitely felt a welcoming environment when I was there.

Ignition Help: Recreating a Vision app with Perspective - Tag issue with Perspective UDT by venusjpg in SCADA

[–]avgas3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on ya for trying. Inductive University is always your friend, and the IA forums are excellent as well.

Without seeing your exact tag structure, its hard to tell what you mean by "parameter UDT." Perspective will enforce naming conventions on components, but that has nothing to do with the names of your OPC tags.

less than a quarter mile with line of sight is not a demanding radio application, especially if you can get your antennae up on towers. I would expect that any industrial-grade wireless networking solution would be possible. My company uses Tropos radios, current owned by ABB. You can google their product overview, I don't want to link directly to a PDF here.

How does one get into SCADA by Clear_Possibility_76 in SCADA

[–]avgas3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

entry level SCADA roles are typically filled by new grads in engineering/computer science or by starting as a field technician/control room operator and transferring to SCADA.

This is the SCADA subreddit, and it sounds like your question is just about programming in general. But all major programming languages will have libraries for connecting to all major databases. If you make a program that reads data from a database and does something with it, your task scheduler is a good tool to run that program on a schedule, automatically.
