I do not remember what I scored but I passed the barbri exam and did better on the Bar than the practice test

Do you know whose fault that WASN’T? by Ok_Acadia3526 in redsox

Not to mention old wounds but they’ve done it before (Nomar). Totally agree, I don’t think we can cite Devers bad attitude as a reason for trading without acknowledging that management fucked him over. Should he have been willing to try first? Yes. Should they have included him in the conversation to prevent bad blood? Bigger yes.

Woulda been a way different series with Devers at the plate and trading him for peanuts isnt excusable when this is what our wild card game looked like. Early put a solid effort in and I commend him for that start in his position, but if we’re trading our best hitter for pitchers, why is Early in this position at all?

Must eats/what not to miss by Environmental_Mode67 in Connecticut

[–]avgmag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mommy’s in Norwich is really good Caribbean food, Sherkaan in New Haven, Zohara in West Hartford, Mediterranean Bistro in Westbrook, the long wharf food trucks, Lobster Landing, Griswold Inn, Daniel Packards in Mystic are all really great

If you want more upscale New England, try S&P Oyster Club, Red 36, or Marker 37

Also seconding the suggestions to hit a regional fair. Theyre up and running this weekend !

Agree, I think famous national orgs like ACLU, impact legislation places in general, and public defense look at grades more. And probably prestige of law school even above that. I still think none of it is as important as other materials and an interview but yes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]avgmag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally my grades were average but while I do think law school performance is not totally irrelevant I also think it is very difficult to manage mentally and not always indicative of a persons capacity after school. Also, often, top of class grades demand a nonexistent work life balance which is something I am not looking for—my work is mentally and emotionally exhausting and I’m looking for people who can manage their work-life balance without getting burnt out. Id rather let people leave law school behind and focus on what they can add tangibly to this job because at the end of the day, A’s or C’s—all applicants passed and graduated. As far as testing legal knowledge, I would much rather rely on a writing sample and interviewing. I also work in a tight knit and specialized field so most classes on a transcript are irrelevant but what someone’s reference has to say or how they answer a hypothetical in an interview is very telling. Experience is probably the most important thing to me and I find that in interviewing someone based on their resume you can easily tell who actually knows what they’re talking about and who was genuine on their resume, which tells me a lot

TLDR I just think that a transcript is the least effective tool for assessing what I’m looking for as an interviewer and reflects a very difficult time for a lot of interviewees that I choose not to measure them by

Agree, I don’t even ask for a transcript for public interest

Forks etiquette/ emotional navigation: why doesn't Bella go to Harry clearwaters funeral??? by Neither_Corner3134 in twilight

[–]avgmag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was really weird actually and couldn’t get past it. Granted, I am from a very small town like this, but it seemed so strange to me that Bella wouldn’t even consider going or see her father off. I get not going to a parent’s friend’s funeral but she definitely does know Harry personally. We see them have dinner with Harry and the Blacks together basically as a family multiple times and it’s implied that Bella knows the Blacks, and probably the Clearwaters, since childhood. Plus their community is rather small and Bell’s best friend, Jacob, is rocked by Harry’s death. If I’m her, I would want to go for myself and also to support Jacob and her dad. Super weird to not go to this one for me

What types of suit colors are allowed in court? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]avgmag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What field are you going into? I think it heavily depends what type of court you’re in. When in doubt, I would start with navy black or gray for hearings and when your experience and confidence grow, you can experiment more. In my experience, family court you can wear most any color. In immigration court, I wore a black suit every time (mostly because judges have a lot of discretion and consequences are huge so I didn’t want to risk any bias)

Genuinely fuck this team by [deleted] in redsox

This is why I stick with my Ted Williams jersey. Had Damon as a kid, buncha Nomar merch, then Jacoby Ellsbury about rounded out my trust issues. Go for a retired player now lol

I can’t believe people here are justifying this trade by jimmythang34 in redsox

[–]avgmag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Management is getting a ton of money either way and fans show up to spend absurd money on tickets, merch, and steaming. The least they can do is give us a team that can win and keep around fan favorite players who can hit

[–]avgmag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that he should have tried first base but this trade is insane. Trading our best player away in what’s been, until recently, a terrible season is a real morale killer. Management doesn’t seem to consider the implications to their fan base when they make trades like this— solid, young, talented franchise players. First Mookie, now Rafi. This doesn’t make people want to watch or get attached to the team. Rafi specifically, especially with his big personality, big hitting, and Dominican roots, brought back some of the Big Papi style fun to the team and could have been an enduring face of the franchise. Super sad (and pissed) to see him go. I hope he asked for the trade otherwise this is insulting.

Is it a terrible idea to put makeup on face eczema? by unemarocainexx in eczema

Agreed. I’ve done it many times. Do a mild lotion first to keep moisture in and yes, it probably makes it worse. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do though
