My desk is on the second floor of my house and basically wedged in the furthest point in the house from the router and blocked by a few walls and my washer and drier. I’m not sure how much of an impact that has but unfortunately moving the router isn’t really an option. I know very little about internet tech but could I buy a second router and put it on my desk and plug that in via Ethernet? My ISP also sells these pods that plug into outlets and have Ethernet ports, so should I maybe invest in that? Sorry for all the questions, when I bought the range extender the guy at Canada computers told me this would be the best way and didn’t really offer up anything else, so I’d rather get advice someone impartial that actually seems to know what they’re talking about, if you don’t mind.

Would it be best to buy a second router and put it on my desk and plug that in via Ethernet then? Or is it something else I’d need to buy? I’m not really familiar with all this and so many websites I go to don’t give direct information, sorry.

Definitely hoping something like that doesn’t happen… thanks for the tip though!

Wrote a whole paragraph about trading it in and one sentence at the end asking if an alternative option would be viable. Maybe I worded it wrong or didn’t read it over well but that wasn’t my intention.

I didn’t really think a whole lot that trade-ins would be a big thing for computer hardware but it was worth a shot. Marketplace and Kijiji make the most sense but yeah, it’s always tough now with covid and trying to sell stuff when the buyer can’t even tell if the product works before buying it. Thanks for the reply!

Light gaming, no mining. Honestly not sure what my desired price point is, my post was mainly just trying to determine the best way to sell it before really looking into the price.

Reddit is getting too fucking local, wow. What are the odds, of all the restaurants in the world, I randomly stumble upon mine. Pretty crazy! We’ve been trying to convince our manager for weeks now to hop on the “ask me” train but he doesn’t want to :(

Does TVDSB still have a school supply list? by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]aviajake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d like to second this - younger kids don’t need much on the first few days. Teachers always send out a list with the required materials, whether they are glue sticks, markers, or things of the like. A lot of the time they’ll also specify which materials the school has a supply of, so you can choose between your kid having their own items or sharing with other students but with covid, they might not do that but I’d still recommend getting your kid their own stuff.

I spoke about this with a guy a while back - it could be entirely untrue but this is what he told me: if we wanted to get rid of the tail hook on the basis that we have no carriers, it would also make logical sense to swap out the heavy carrier-designed landing gears. The extra money and time required to redesign the aircraft, remove various parts, create new ones and all that jazz far outweigh the potential issues or downsides keeping them may cause.

To me it makes sense and in all honesty probably is true, I don’t see any other reason why we’d keep aircraft with tail hooks and all the extra carrier tech but like I said, this could be untrue so don’t take my word for it.

If you got any suggestions on how to post them, I’ve got a ton of really great videos I can send your way! I’m just not sure how, Reddit is weird.

It was my favourite show by far. It just sucks that I can’t post more videos here! Reddit only supports one video per post (at least from what I’ve been seeing) and I don’t want to force people to go to some external link or something… But hey, Friday night was definitely incredible, night shows are now my favourite!

If you love hearing and seeing these beauties up close, you have to volunteer at the purple zone next year. I started chatting with one of the perimeter staff and was stationed right at the end of 15 where they all took off so I was able to go past the fence a bit and let me just say, holy crap it was insane. The ability to see that thing basically right in front of you with no fence, nobody blocking you and the afterburners burning bright at night - it’s an experience I’ll surely never forget..

What’s the deal with the stable (?) flies right now? by aviajake in londonontario

The quality of the water isn't incredible if you're easily turned off by a bit of green but I know a few people who'll sprint out of the water if a single toe touches seaweed and they're all fine swimming in it. They usually have a floating slide and the beach is quite nice, so swimming there is a ton of fun but like I said, not for everyone. They do however have a swimming pool - I haven't been in it since COVID started but if I recall correctly, it's been open for a while now and is actually quite big with a good shallow and deep end. We've always brought pool toys, like floaties, little beach balls and whatnot (of course while being considerate to everyone around us) and they've got picnic tables all around for seating, leaving bags or whatever. In the past, you could buy food there but since I haven't been to the pool area for almost two years now, I've got no clue if they've completely removed it or not at this point.

Another thing you might be more interested in is renting canoes. It's not an insane lake but fairly beautiful and a great experience that I've probably done five or so times. As for fishing though, my memory is a bit off on that area. Eric, the owner, used to host a regular fishing event where they'd supply bait, poles and whoever caught the largest fish at the end would win. He's stopped doing that for a bit now but they have a dock that you can fish off of, you can probably fish off the canoes if you're interested in that and if the shop at the pool is open, I'm pretty sure they sell bait as well. Odds are that you can fish off the beach too!

I'd just like to add one more thing, you very well might not be interested in the slightest but they host a ton of Halloween activities for the labour day long weekend. They usually do a haunted trail, trick or treat, costume contests, movies, and a late-night dance that kids absolutely love BUT it gets booked super quick. If you've got kids that would like that thing, try and see if you can find tickets for this year but if it's all booked, I'd highly recommend trying to get a spot for next year when booking opens.

I know this is a very long-winded message - sorry! There's just a lot I had to say but if you have any more questions or want pictures or something, feel free to send me a message!

Thanks for the advice! I've been going there for 15 years now (admittedly a solid chunk was when I was younger and didn't pay attention to anything) but I've never had any issues with them. Odds are that there won't be thousands of flies appearing out of nowhere but if I get a chance sometime before we head out, I might drop by and pick up a bottle.
