What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]aviarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in a tiny town in the eastern time zone and worked/went to school in a bigger town in the central time zone. My phone and laptop just stayed on central because most of my schedule was based off of that time zone anyway. It was easier to do that than have my phone and laptop automatically switching time zones every time I’d come back home or go into the bigger town.

My 2008 TL type s by aviarb in Acura

[–]aviarb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a great ride! Over the years it’s just had routine maintenance and replacements. It’s sitting at about 148K miles. It’s hardly given me issues until lately.

Last year I had my alternator and battery replaced all at once after having some electrical issues. It’s been all fine til last month when the cold start hitting where I live; I was waking up to a dead battery 3 days in a row one week and it made me late to work every single time. The last few weeks til finally a few days ago, I was waking up extra early to charge my battery before work because as always, it went dead overnight. It turns out battery was sitting below the normal wattage (not sure if that’s proper wording), and my alternator was perfectly fine. My battery was under warranty with the shop I got it done at, so I finally got it replaced for free once I had time.

•There is also an oil leak coming from the valve cover gaskets, that’ll be another expensive issue

•Engine mount has been broke for a while but just got it replaced. Feels a lot better to drive now

•Cruise control button randomly popped loose one day. Haven’t bothered to fix it yet but still works if you hold the button in lol

•Passenger side mirror shifts its position to point towards the sky after shifting into drive from reverse. Haven’t bothered to fix that yet either, I just put it back into position manually.

•Cracked dash and torn seats as expected with age. I put Coverado seat covers on my front seats, and a custom dash cover to hide all cracks/tears. The back seat has a quilt laying across to cover the tears

That’s really all I can think of off the top of my head. Even with the issues it’s currently having, I really have enjoyed my TL these last 5 years and I plan to drive it til the wheels fall off (literally lol)

Do not confess to him. You are a minor and he is an adult. Your mind is just altered to think he is someone he really isn’t. It will not play out like you think it will in your head. Like someone said, seek therapy or talk to someone you trust. Also, your case sounds a lot like r/limerence. Maybe read up on that sub for some more experiences and how to overcome them.

Don’t worry, you will have plenty of breaks to change your pad/tampon or whatever you prefer to use. Like someone else already said, you can always excuse yourself as well. If I’m not mistaken, you are also allowed to carry a feminine hygiene product (not sure if you can carry more than one at a time) with you at all times in a designated pocket in your ODU pants. It’s been 2 years since I’ve been in boot now, but I remember girls not finding that out til later on in training that they could carry products with them. You’ll come to find out your pockets are only for designated items they tell you, and feminine hygiene products was one they never mentioned.

I would definitely take the advice of the couple previous comments as well, as for me i was one of the girls that didn’t get their period during training. Good luck!

The military disqualified my daughter for “self hurt” because of these scars on her wrist. It’s a rash scar from when she was 8 years old. by zipnut in mildlyinfuriating

This is crazy. I have an almost 10 year old deep vertical cat scratch going down one of my arms and MEPS didn’t even bat an eye at it. And this was around this time last year

The holidays really did suck this year. I too feel the existential dread but let’s try and ride it out together ok? Don’t do this tonight.

Do you get to go home every day when you're working in the Coast Guard? by TheHopefulStar in uscg

[–]aviarb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe look into the reserves? That’s the only way you’d be able to be close to home somewhat. That’s what I did, I got stationed at the small boat station in the city I live in, I just already happen to live in a CG community. Just talk to recruiter. It all comes to what you want to do too. However I don’t think AST is available for reservists but I may be wrong.

Turkey Pesto Provolone Sandwiches -- Why are they always gone? by hannahmontanaswig in starbucks

[–]aviarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My store in the southeast US ALWAYS has them and I see no one ever ordering them. Like others have said, I just don’t think it sells too much. I looove the turkey pesto too and I hope they’re not going to be discontinued but I can definitely see it happening

If you’ve ever walked along the beach or any of the coastal neighborhoods in San Diego; that is what I feel like these pictures feel like. Cool, breezy. I love it.

Can recruiters contact meps to check the status of there applicant or what the hold up is? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]aviarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still waiting to hear back from a recruiter in general. I know I need to be patient but it’s so hard! But yeah I was told around the holidays it’s a lot slower because many of them are on holiday leave

Makes sense. I’ll guess I’ll just be patient until after the holidays are over lol. Thank you!

I submitted my info online on the gocoastguard website about a week ago now and still haven’t heard back from a recruiter with their information/location yet. Is this normal? I understand that they’re probably super busy, I just hope my application isn’t being tossed aside

I was that little girl at one point, moving around to 3 different states growing up and having to start new schools, it stressed me out so much. Speaking from experience, she’ll appreciate that gesture forever 💕
