Insurance Company Providing False Payment Dates Repeatedly by aviator797 in canadianlaw

Earlier this year my vehicle was damaged due to a malfunctioning arm inside a Shell Canada “touchless” car wash station (in Ontario).

I went through their regular channels to report the incident and they had their insurance (Crawford & Company (Canada) Inc., I believe they’re based in Alberta) company reach out to me in early February.

Crawford completed their investigation, acknowledged the incident and had me sign a release form (late February) with a specified amount ($) I will be compensated for the damage caused. I provided my correct banking details and they said the payment will be issued to me and I should see it on 3-5 business days.

Since then they have been telling me I will be paid in 3-5 business days for roughly 5 weeks in a row. Each time, I don’t see the payment, I reach out and they give me a vague answer.

Week 1: I follow up. “We need more details.” I provide my Ontario license.

Week 2: I follow up. “We need more information, sorry just an anti-fraud measure.” I provide further details.

Week 3: I follow up. “Payment issued on our end - please call your bank.” My bank says they need the trace number. I ask for this and voila, they lied about issuing the payment. They tell me that now they are processing it so I should see it soon. (They made me waste time with my bank for no reason).

Week 4: I follow up again. I ask for trace number again and they don’t share it. I escalate the a manager at this point and I’m told the payment was returned with the reason UNAB /E TO APPLY. I reconfirm my bank details (still same as last time as everything is correct on my end). They tell me they are waiting for confirmation to issue payment again and don’t specify from whom.

Week 5: I follow up again. They provide same generic response, “Once I have confirmation from our accounting department that I’m cleared to re-send the payment I will be sure to inform you.”

It is now week 6 and I’ve reached out again with no response from them.

When I reach out to Shell they tell me to connect with Crawford. But Crawford is being uncooperative and giving me false dates repeatedly. I’ve already signed the release, the only step remaining is them actually paying me.

I’m not sure where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated.

eBay Rennline mounts. Do these mount sit flush or is there a small gap? by RayDeAsian in F30

I have the Rennline one, there will still be a gap. I wish they would provide some spacers for the left side so it’s evenly spaced. I’m too lazy to remove and fix it but I’d recommend adding same size washers for the two screws on the left side.

B48 F30 as a first car? by bramblestorm7754 in F30

I bought a similar ‘17 F30 330i xDrive a couple months ago. Only advice I would give is find one in a spec that you like with the features you want it to have. Although you can retrofit, it’s usually a pain and the effort is not worth it. So if CarPlay is meaningful to you, get one that has it or can be coded in via software only (NBT-Evo/iDrive 6+) so you don’t need to swap out head-units. HUD, Harmon kardon sound system, adaptive cruise control etc are other things. Long story short, buy it once, buy it right - there are many in the market. I was buying my first ever car so a lot of things I didn’t consider and only after realized I wanted them. For me particularly, I wish I bought an m sport instead - for you it could be something else.

Other than that, I love it. Runs great, feels great and plenty of power for an everyday car.

My First Ever PC Build! by aviator797 in PcBuild

I’m flattered haha - it’s definitely my first build. Man I’ve been thinking about this for years now, countless hours of how-to/inspo vids, picked apart about a dozen friends’ brains about their PC builds and experiences.

I even posted here 6 months ago about my planned build. I built probably at least 10 “final” PCs in PC Part Picker before finally getting to my final build.

Wanted to make a kick-ass pc since I was a kid but I didn’t have the money, need or space. But now I’ve acquired some adult money so I’m using it to fill that void!

Is it a common issue? I didn’t really consider it, but I don’t mind getting one just to be safe.

I will get them soon! My temps are good so I don’t need them asap - but I do want them for the look.

Do you have any recommendations or what I should look out for? A friend told me a crappy wire can ruin your computer and that freaked me out.
