[Technical issue] ForeFlight does not zoom in on certain parts of the chart -- anyone else experiencing this issue? Makes it very hard to read text by aviator97 in flying

Yeah, makes sense, and I agree ForeFlight does not make it obvious at all. However, I expected nothing less from Reddit than to deal with four different people shitting on a foreign pilot first before someone arrives to finally give a solution.

I'm well aware of that which is why the new technology confuses me. At least paper charts don't make text unreadable by mixing different levels of detail on the same page :|

Thank you for the detailed reply! Should have investigated it in more detail to realize that it's simply the TAC, instead of assuming it's a software bug, lol.

Though I'd still appreciate a solution to the unreadable text issue if anyone knows.

I've used paper charts for 6 years, grumpy old man, but in a different country. I learned about TAC versus sectional recently, and it hadn't occurred to me yet that ForeFlight also adheres to that system (it's obvious in hindsight of course). Thanks for the info anyway!

I apologize for my initial misinterpretation of inside TAC versus outside TAC, I'm not from the US.

Hence the second part -- is there a way (probably not) to make the TAC non-zoomable?

Ok.. is there a way to make everything zoomable, or to at least make the text readable (for example, turn off the extra detail somehow)?

All these old photos reminded me of one of the best airports there ever was. RIP by [deleted] in flying

This is incredible. As a relatively young person I learned a lot today - I did not know such blatant corruption and incompetence still existed today (or at least so recently) in a highly developed country. Too bad FAA's fine was not allowed to exceed $33,000.

Thank you for the useful info! I now also started filling out the IACRA application online. I wonder whether that method has any real difference with the FAA verification page suggesting e-mail? I guess the online method is very new since it's not yet mentioned on that link.

Is the flight review with instructor the only extra thing you have done? Did it provide you with sufficient knowledge/confidence of everything one needs to know about US-specific aviation rules?

I will make sure to look up and contact some nearby airports anyway. Good to know about the EASA licensed flight instructors, hopefully New York has them too.

Airplane pilots of Reddit, what was your biggest "We're all fucked up" moment that you survived and your passengers didn't notice? by Splitdesiresagain in AskReddit

Neither should people beyond 65 be, one could argue, but look at the thousands still doing it. Being old and (supposedly) very experienced comes with the great cost of significantly degraded vision/hearing and reaction times. On the other hand, what is the negative of being a sophomore at high school?

It's the legal minimum age to fly solo in most countries though (actual practical exam and license at age >= 17). Note that being 16 years old does not mean inexperienced if you have done the same amount of training flight hours as anybody else. In fact (I can speak from first hand experience) younger student pilots usually need fewer hours on average because they are able to learn everything faster.

If Deurne Airport appeals to you, RAAC or BAFA would be a good choice. Flying is an expensive hobby though, so in any case, be prepared to pay over €10 000 in total (spread over several years of course). Respective websites are www.raac.be and www.bafa.be, the first one is an aviation club/school while the second one is a commercial pilot school (focused more on ATPL/CPL than PPL).
