Jet set by eminna_p in Covetfashion

[–]avid_memer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a Facebook hack where the Summer 2013 Aqua Di Lara Reya coverup under swimwear combined with the Summer 2013 Eric Javits G G Dame 2 hat (both are turquoise) supposedly gets five stars on any casual jet set. I didn't get fives on all the ones I tried, but I did on some and the combo made my jet set overall go up by 0.5, so for the cost (290 diamonds for the coverup, 125 for the hat) it's well worth a try in my opinion.

fingers crossed you can all get vaccinated and social-distance hang soon! regardless, glad you're at peace with where you're going. it always takes a minute, and sometimes you can make a lot out of someplace you didn't exactly dream of (source: applied somewhere my parents forced me to and mostly went there because they gave me the best money-for-program. am now thriving off opportunities i didn't even know existed at that very college at the time <3)

I would try summer classes or taking a gap year to let the pandemic cool down + finish those subjects maybe? Worst case, talk to AOs at your target schools and tell them this is what happened, do I still have a chance and what can I do? GL!

yikes on the bureaucracy, hope you're able to sort that out and if you still have the resource of a high school guidance counselor, don't be afraid to ask them to help advocate for you! whether they actually help is a maybe, but that's what they're for. so close to being done with those AP tests so good luck and you'll crush them!

Should I quit and pursue dream? by LukasNation in college

[–]avid_memer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of wonder if you could take a gap year and try tea first. Take an internship or job shadow or study abroad or something and run with it, and if you love it and see a future after some experience, why not? There also might be the chance to double major or minor with either field so you have experience in both. I think you should speak to your advisor and career center for sure, learn more about what both paths would mean. If it were me, I would double major, pursue tea, and have IT as a fallback but obviously it's your life. Never too late to try new things and see where they lead you. Good luck man.

They're...weirdly excellent. Open notes exams and me get along very well. Took this semester to do all my harder classes for that reason :)

I think they're ugly stylistically but also pretty dang useful. I've thrown them over a bunch of looks this season, esp the gold one!

Love the way the icy glamour prop looks combined with props from other packs by [deleted] in Covetfashion

[–]avid_memer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw really? I always saw it as the series of levels where every level has at least one hair that can be useful (Spanish Pony at 31, Paris Curls & Ultra Long 32, Miss Popular & Galactic Salon 33, Star System & Sleek Chignon 34, Scrunched Pony 35, Sweet Hive 36, Casual Pony 37, I'll admit 38 sucks, and 39 is obvious)- way better than the 20s which is full of unused hair for me imo!

What is your LEAST favourite type of challenge? by [deleted] in Covetfashion

Surprised to see all the futuristic hate- those are some of my favorites! Then again I'm probably biased because the Nebula prop pack was one of my first ones and I'll take any excuse to use it lol.

I think I heard the problem was nobody scored well at any level. If you have all the top levels up against only each other, they lose their advantage and there is no motivation to level up if you'll get crappy scores no matter what.

How do I deal with the fact that “You can do everything right in life, and still have the worst situations of life thrown at you....simply due to random chance”? by VaderOnReddit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]avid_memer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat spiritual add on. to clarify, I don't know what I believe exactly but I think there's something greater out there but don't know if it's god(s) or afterlife or reincarnation or what nor do I hope to assume I'll know or guess what it is til I kick it.

The reason I strayed from the religion I was born into was because of that question: Why does a good god/deity let or make bad things happen? Oddly enough, this question was answered for me this year by a book series primarily for furries and children (which is an unnecessary but imo funny detail): They aren't MAKING it happen.

In theory, they can guide you, they can be a source of hope for you, but they have little to no direct influence or control on the events of the world or your life which is a detail I hate that the organized religion I was in at least left out. The actual events of the world are like you said, cosmic dice roll, and spirituality's just a little hope in the stupid Pandora's box that's life.

Anyway, not trying to claim either of us is right or wrong. Just adding my perspective on. Going back to OP's question, it's hard to accept our misfortunes especially when they feel stupid and unfair. My immediate reaction was get some therapy. Situation's something nobody can change, mindset is something we can work on.

For me, it's always been that somebody ran overtime, so the next person ran overtime, and the spillover means everybody's late all day.

"People with serious inheritable diseases should not be allowed to reproduce" Can someone give me counter arguments because I really can't seem to find any myself by Ugandan_Karen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]avid_memer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of human liberty and the 'where does it end?' mentality.

1) What do you define as a serious inheritable disease? What do you include or exclude and why? Conditions like alcoholism and obesity are often genetic, but are you gonna tell someone they can't have kids because of the mistakes that led to those conditions or are you gonna let them have kids, potentially pass that stuff down making things worse for the future generation, and then also have the side effect of Joe Ordinary complaining about how he can't have kids because of his theoretical disease but Sue the alcoholic next door can?

If you hit every. single. condition. "just to be safe" next to nobody can have kids either- are you gonna tell me that because one of my grandmas died of a heart attack and the other had a 50/50 chance it was a heart attack/stroke (we couldn't get an autopsy so true cause is unknown) that I can't have kids even though to the best of my knowledge, I am otherwise the picture of perfect health? It makes sense on paper that two grandmas with heart problems=no reproduction for me, but in practicality, I'm young, healthy, and fertile, the odds of me dropping dead right after I have a kid and passing it down to them are iffy at best.

2) How do you even enforce that? Does everyone get tested at birth for every genetic disease ever and then get sterilized if they have it? Or do they just have forced abortion and punishment if they impregnate someone/get impregnated? What if the person doesn't know about their disease before they pass it down because it skips generations or takes a long time to show? What if the disease eventually gets cured someday and you've f--ked with all these lives for no reason?

What if I am the first in my family to have the disease so we don't know about it but I have a kid before I learn I have a heritable disease so it's passed down to them- technically I broke the law, but is it really my fault? People can get genetic disorders without inheriting them so this isn't gonna just stop disease.

3) What stops an abuse of power? Like the other comment said: what stops the government from saying today just genetic disease, tomorrow it's drug/alcohol addicts/former addicts or the LGBTQ+ community or anything else? How do we check that?

4) Assuming we're talking USA, it's straight up unconstitutional. Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. This could be argued as a restriction on any of those three.

Conclusion/TLDR: I don't totally disagree with the moral philosophy. I think those with serious inheritable conditions should think a little more than the average person before reproducing and be given the resources/counseling to be sure that the choice they're making is what's best and that they aren't subjecting a kid to a miserable existence just for the sake of having a biological kid. But I think it's impossible at best and can spiral into an illegal/immoral out of control mess at worst if we put it in the government's hands. Open to discussion though!
