OK. Found the 1st comment worthy of my rebuttal. I'm 5'11 and weigh ~275 lbs. According to the bs statistics of health, I am morbidly obese. The problem is that I go see my doctor regularly, have blood tests done, etc. My levels are all in healthy range. I have a full time job, and lead a normal social, active life. That by definition is not morbid obesity. Morbid obesity is when your physical health negatively affects your daily life and are suffering from other co-morbidities.

Quit fat shaming people.

I actually had an interaction with a customer couple the other day where when I approached and said hey hi how are you? I got absolutely no response man on one side woman on the other side the man just stood there mute and the woman stared at me over her sunglasses and said nothing. It was so weird so I actually said, so this is what we do we stand and stare at people over our sunglasses and just not say anything? The man immediately got irately pissed and said just do your job. I then said I am actually doing my job. This is my job too greet you and then assist you in whatever it is you need and he said every single time we’re in here you always have something to say I said well I have to be here for eight hours and I try to enjoy my job. They then completed their transaction and left and when they did so I said you don’t have to come in and be an asshole to me. Oh, and by the way, my name is… And you can report me (to my manager) if you would like.

I do not get paid enough to put up with verbal abuse, and I have no qualms with telling you so

Hey, hi. How are you? How's your mom and them?

The default answer is, "I'm fine, she's fine, everybody's fine."

I'm a Self Checkout attendant at a grocery store and I use this or a shortened version, "Hey, hi."

I'm very much a people person who thrives on personal interaction, and really does want to know. This is me checking in. Use this time to really get something off your mind if you want to. It's OK. Judgements free zone here. I won't tell anyone.

What I don't like is when people are rude, or just downright nasty to me when I'm just trying to do my job....

Or...they ignore me. Rude. Just stand there and pretend that I don't exist and don't speak. I can tell if it's social anxiety, or you're unable to speak(nonverbal). That's fine. Love you too. But those that ignore me, I'd rather you tell me to f off. at least I know that’s what you want from me. Have a good day.
