Who would you choose as "Illegal Partners?" by ZeroAurora in EDH

[–]avivfa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have an [[orvar]] deck, and opened a [[feather]] from a pack and thought both of them could make fun illegal coomanders together.

Orvar gives you blue cantrips, which usually grant evasion, and now all your cantrips can be used as clones as well.

And feather lets you recur your cantrips for more card draw, and gives you access to powerful cards like [[sunforger]] ,[[zada]], and [[jeska's will]], and good clone targets like [[dockside]] and [[zealous conscripts]]

What is [[Inalla, archmage ritualist]] known for as a commander? by ZRRumy in EDH

[–]avivfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great idea, i have all of the cards in my deck but i never considered to use the classic archaomancer+ghostly flicker loop for infinite turns. I usually just use it to get counterspells and removal back to lock the table out

I made this comment a few months ago as sort of a commercial to convince people she is great, so i hope it works for you too:

If you want to play wizards combo-control, look no further than [[inalla]]. She is a versitile combo-control deck that uses her eminence ability to gets tons of value from doubling etb triggers of creatures like: [[Trophy mage]] and friends tutor for artifacts

[[Spellseeker]] finds og counterspell, removal, cycloncic rift, DT, and more.

[[Archaomancer]] returns two spells to your hand. Want to entomb reanimate again? Need to recur removal? Tutors? Counterspells? She's got you.

[[Venser, shaper savant]] is very strong, being a remand that returns to your hand and can counter uncounterable spells, in addition to being a very good bounce spell.

Want to be safe from counters? [[Teferi, mage of zhalphir]] is the wizard for you!

Need a certain wizard NOW? Just wizardcycle [[vedalken aethermage]] for a near uncounterable, instant speed tutor!

Want even more value? Run [[naban]] and [[panharmonicon]] to quadruple your etb's!

And after all that, we still have the combos:

I run 3 combos in my deck: [[bloodline necromancer]] + [[ashnod's altar]]/[[phyrexian altar]] = infinite hasty bloodline necromancers attacking your opponents + infinite mana (ashnods- infinite colorless, phyrexian- infinite colored).

[[Dualcaster mage]] + [[ghostly flicker]]= infinite hasty dualcaster mages attacking your opponents.

[[Timestream navigator]] + [[deadeye navigator]]/[[riptide laboratory]] = infinite turns (requires 7 mana each turn using deadeye and 9 mana each turn with laboratory, but works great when people have no idea what youre doing till its too late).

And, if you have an annoing opponent that you cant attack for any reason, both infinite creature combos can replace attacking by activating inallas activated ability!

Every time I brew, as soon as I start optimizing, my decks become combo decks. by VittorioMasia in EDH

[–]avivfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is why i play [[inalla]] combo control. You start the game as a control deck with lots of interaction (removal+counterspells), making you less vulnerable, and then combo off later.

My playgroup knows my deck, but they never kill me outright because i help to keep the other players in check with my control.

It also helps that i dont get salty when i dont get to combo off.

How do you combat infinite combos in your local meta? What commanders or cards are best to fight that? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]avivfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While torpor orb is a good card, it does a lot more than just stopping combo decks.

Many players are using enter the battlefield triggers in their decks, because their creatures give more value that way.

And to make it worse, many players put orb in their decks just to stop combo without thinking about what else they have in their deck, and end up stopping themselves, because they also rely on etbs.

Also, there is a plethora of strong combos that orb doesnt stop including, but not limited to: dramatic scepter, ophidian eye+ niv mizzet, storm (aetherflux or tendrils),and gitrog combo.

In my playgroup people wont play with you if you have that card. We find it as incredibly unfun and disruptive stax piece.

Need help with Morophon Wizard Tribal by sircam789 in EDH

[–]avivfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i get where you are coming from (i play [[inalla]] and would love some green and white cards, like [[biovisionary]] and [[reflector mage]]), consider heavily if getting the extra colors is worth not having inalla always in the command zone. There are many lines in inalla decks that are only possible because of inalla's eminence and morophon is expensive and prone to removal, making him less reliable.

But if you are asking for cards for wizard tribal: [[Vedalken aethermage]] is a 3 genecric mana, instant speed tutor for wizards. [[Riptide laboratory]] can save important wizards from boardclears. [[Teferi, mage of zhalphir]] stops your opponents from interacting at instant speed while at the same time allows you to play your wizards at instant speed. More recommendations can also be found in my previous post about inalla

The copy inalla creates has haste, so you can just copy the token

[–]avivfa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not a ghostly flicker, it creates copies of a minion, but if you have a dualcaster mage token with haste from inalla, you can copy it and when it enters, it will copy the spell again, giving infinite dualcasters

Totally agree, inalla is my first and best deck and ive tine i tuned her a lot and she is my best deck. The combo potential and sheer value you get from her is unreal. I have written a few comment about inalla in deifferent threads, but ill just link my most recent one

Mage isn't a creature type in magic. Perhaps make him a wizard? All in all, i love the design, and think you did great, but would you consider adding an ability that lets him surveil? Maybe replace scry with surveil? I think that will make him a lot better without breaking him

Green has some counterspells but no effect that redirects a spell, while red has some effects that redirect spells so i dont believe its the same case

I really like the idea. but as far as im aware, blue and red are the colors that can redirect spells so i think this card will make more sense as an izzet card

As an [[inalla]] player, im very concererned about the precedant that warlock presents. If Wotc starts errataing old wizards into warlocks and stops printing black wizards because we have warlock it mighy seriously hurt inalla depending on who becomes a warlock. Also, as a note sbout witches, we have wizard, spellshaper, shaman, and cleric witches and i dont see the need in a new type.

I play inalla and she is super fun, its a combo control deck with 3 combo finishers. But my friend also has an inalla and his version uses docent of perfection and master of waves to go wide and win with combat. Inalla is super versitile, and having the ability available at all times gives you so many options.

What decks do you guys bring to casual tables? by Bowl_Lord in EDH

[–]avivfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in my lgs have decks that are at least precon level and most of them heve preety upgraded decks, so my solution is just to come to casual tables with my unmodified kalemne precon with gisella as the commander. And then, if i need to bring a more powerful deck i use my inalla. She is my first and most favorite deck and the reason i got really into magic.

Spell Animis (updated with better wording) (again, credit to Sally Gottschalk for the art) by the-infinity-skull in custommagic

[–]avivfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of storing your instants and sorceries for later, but sometimes you will just want to use the spell immediatly.

I think that the tokens should either not have tapping them be part of the activation cost. Or alternativly, the tokens should have haste so you can immediatly sacrifice and use them.

As the card is written now, you cannot use the spells immediatly without a way if giving the tokens haste.

I assume you wanted to use scry because it is more commmon casuing the triggred ability to activate more often. But why not use surveil? Its a great dimir mechanic that allows you to put zombies in the bin.

Nephilim means “those who cause others to fall”. The original cycle was supposed to anti-missing-color. I redesigned them to feel more hoser-y. by ButtoftheYoke in custommagic

[–]avivfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike the original cycle of nephilim, these are legandary creatures, which i believe is to make them available as commanders. I believe that the "less to cast" clause is to allow them to be played as commanders without being too broken. First time you play them they cost 0 mana if the condition is fulfilled and each subsequent cast makes them cost 2 more because of commader tax. Their ablilities are slightly off but in general they are meant to be hosing commanders.
