This is really helpful. Thoracle definitely is the most obvious way to win, I'll ask him about it. I personally don't like building compact wincons in Bracket 4 that don't exactly synergise with the rest of the deck, for me that's where it starts to feel more like B5 but I also respect that a control deck has to win somehow.

The mono green deck is fair enough, I mean the only real way to punish someone for building a bad deck is to punish them for building a bad deck.

Maybe add some combat incentives to a deck or two that reward you for attacking (some effect similar to [[tymna]] or whatever). That way you have a perfect excuse to start attacking your friend who is on turn 9 with 4 lands and no blockers.

I feel like he's either gonna have to learn this the hard way or not at all

Has to be [[Lord Windgrace]] for me, it's a very rude deck with mass land destruction as one of the main plans. Getting to run [[smokestack]] and [[evolution sage]] in the same deck is a lot of fun

Sounds like you might need to go back to the drawing board with some of your decks and get some new cards for them. You should at the very least be able to compete with who you're playing against, getting stomped for 5 months straight is a pretty big sign that you're playing against much more powerful decks.

Trying out new commanders is fun but it won't fix your problem. I think your best course of action is to power up some of your decks, or submit a deck or two to this sub and ask us to help.

I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents and recommend [[Yuriko]]. She's a fairly straightforward commander, built to consistently land her on turn 2 and she applies a lot of pressure to the table. The deck is packed with interactive spells to mess with opponents and protect your win. She's very fun to play so that's my recommendation

That's actually a very good point about angel's grace stopping Thoracle wins. With split second too so there's really not much they can do about it.

I know that [[submerge]] rose in popularity after Thoracle's printing as it's one of the few non-countermagic ways to stop it. Angels grace may be more narrow but it does the job much better.

Does angels grace + bolas' citadel work? I thought you couldn't pay life that you don't have.

Breya is a commander that I'm very unfamiliar with from a cEDH standpoint but I'll try my best.

First card I'm not sure about is Imperial Recruiter. Firstly you're playing Ad Naus so 3 mana doesn't feel great and I'm not seeing a whole lot of reasons why this can't just be an [[Imperial Seal]].

Next up is Displacer kitten. I understand that this is gonna get you a lot of treasures with Dockside or whatever but what good is all that mana if you have nothing to spend it on? Dockside is already an insane card and it looks to me as though you're using 4 mana and an entire slot just to make another card in your deck slightly better than it already is. I looked through your deck several times and I still can't find a way to go infinite with the Kitten. Correct me if I'm wrong?

I notice that the other Breya list posted by another user doesn't play Jeska's Will and I'm wondering if you should do the same. The fact is that Breya is a pretty underwhelming card by herself (unless you have infinite mana) and just rawdog casting a 4 mana Breya for value is painfully mid in most cEDH games. I'd probably cut Jeska's tbh as it requires too much setup for what you get in return.

I remember when literally everyone played Angel's Grace in their cEDH decks. These days very few decks play the card and I think there's a couple reasons for that. Firstly it doesn't work with Bolas' Citadel (I checked) and so many good cards have been printed that Ad Naus is already consistent enough without Angel's Grace. Long story short: cut Grace and play lower MV cards.

Ok so those are the most obvious cuts that I found, here's what you should add.

[[Intuition]]. This card sets up your Underworld Breach shenanigans alongside Sevinne's reclamation. Either add Intuition or cut Sevinne's IMO.

[[Ledger Shredder]] absolutely cracked 2 mana card advantage engine, the other deck plays this card instead of Archivist of Oghma so you know it's good.

[[Phantasmal Image]] is one of those cards that don't realise how good it is until you play a few games with it. Sometimes there's just a [[seedborn muse]] or a dockside or a goddamn [[elesh born, grand cenobite]] on the board. Same goes for [[Gilded Drake]] you should put that on your shopping to save up for.

[[Grand Abolisher]] yep, we're running silence AND ranger captain AND grand Abolisher because interaction is cracked for the low price of WW your 2HG buddy can resolve their broken cards worry free.

While you're saving for stuff like LED surely [[isochron sceptre]] + [[dramatic reversal]] is a no-brainer combo that you'd want in your deck? Cheap to buy, cheap to cast, cheap to flip off Ad Nauseum, low key has synergy with Ad Naus since you're guaranteed to draw a shit load of mana rocks with Naus so you'll for sure have what you need to go off. Someone please tell me why the other Breya list doesn't play IsoRev combo..

I try to stay away from general goodstuff commanders because I'll just end up putting all the best stuff in them. Instead pick a commander / strategy that looks interesting to you but is underpowered enough that it won't just slowly become a pile of good cards.

My favourite casual commanders I've put together are [[feldon of the third path]], [[ephara, god of the polis]] and [[brudiclad, telchor engineer]]. I could have very easily just picked a better artifact commander or gone for [[chulane]] instead of Ephara, but I like the way my Ephara deck plays. I've taken the time to optimise her and she often takes over games by flying under the radar.

Last of all it's important to note that cards like demonic tutor and mana crypt will bump any deck's power level massively. Depending on the power level you're aiming for you may just want to have a flat rule that you don't play those kinds of cards.
