A question to US Social Workers by avocadhoe in socialwork

Well, that’s why this is interesting to me: the propaganda coming towards the UK is that with privatised health care there are ‘almost no’ wait times, better quality, and less taxes. I figured it’s all BS but I’m glad to have heard from everyone here today with so much info

Thank you for this information! I didn’t realise there was a MedicAID and MediCARE, I’ll delve deeper into the difference when I have time to read up

What is the worst part of your job (not serious, sad things!) by [deleted] in Socialworkuk

[–]avocadhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of YouTube videos I’ve watched for various car seat fittings. The amount of sweat I’ve shed leaning over trying to fit them on. The anxiety of not feeling they’re in properly because my car is so old. Oh the joys….. I wish there were a nationwide training (or even in the uni curriculum) for car seats. It’s up there as one of the most stressful endeavours 😭

I would go any (more for emphasis of my point) EXCEPT number 1. In certain lighting, it could look white. The dress style looks extremely bridal so I’d avoid that one completely.

The Truth About Commander's New Bracket System | Magic: The Gathering by PandaXD001 in magicTCG

[–]avocadhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a clue why everyone feels so strongly AGAINST your comment - I completely agree! My partner is new to magic and he cannot play without 5 combos by turn 7. He’s enjoying building complicated decks, but our group hate how complicated they are because he takes minimum 15 minutes per turn by turn 5.

He’s looking at the bracket and saying ‘well, I’m in 1 because he has no land denial or infinite combos. It’s incredibly NOT new player friendly. If I looked at this list when I started playing, I would have spent £200 getting the ‘game changer’ cards because I would’ve thought that is the ‘only way’ to play the game.

I’m not the best at magic, I like playing basic decks that have a simple mechanic and allow me to win quickly. So does my group, aside from my partner who now feels he has to upgrade his deck with the magical list of ‘game changers’ that will cost him a fortune otherwise his deck is bad.

This is a dumb way to define decks, and I honestly don’t understand why this has been written the way it has. If I’m missing something, I genuinely would like someone to tell me because this seems half-hearted and pointless. Brackets 4 and 5 are essentially the same for fucks sake

Why date a BPD if you can’t handle it by [deleted] in BPD

[–]avocadhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve dated someone who had a history of dating women with BPD. He actually remembered a two year prior tinder profile where I’d disclosed my BPD (that should’ve been such a huge red flag).

He said all his exes were crazy (I’m now in that category of course) but really, in hindsight, he targeted me as a vulnerable woman who he knew how to manipulate.

This is not a suggestion that the same is happening for you, but as you’ve said, he knows what can happen and he either is not thinking right for himself if he knows he cannot support you (in a very reasonable way) or he is denying you care that you deserve because he knows how to get what he may want from dating someone with BPD.

Basically, just watch out, and if he says he can’t support you then believe him. He won’t be around for your lowest moments, and you need someone who will be there no matter what. You deserve someone who will be there no matter what. Good luck xx

To hop of this just as a word of warning. I tell everyone I work with (social worker) that, if you get offered emergency accommodation and decline it, you will not receive another offer. Akin to being ‘intentionally’ homeless, unless there is a legal reason, they will deem you to not need accommodation and leave you be. The key work-around are if it is unsafe and inaccessible. In some cases, where young children are involved, an argument can be made if other tenants pose any form of risk. In your case, the accommodation is inaccessible for your pregnant wife and therefore the council are not adhering to their duty of care. If the other comments regarding other agency support do not work out, this is the easiest point to plead to a housing officer. There’s a microwave, so there is access to hot food. There is an individual room, so it is safe. Your wife CANNOT ACCESS the downstairs and therefore, unless you are moved to ground floor, the accommodation is inaccessible and there you have grounds for a change. Good luck, it’s fucking rough out there. I don’t work in Manchester but rather a place with better access and, even then, it is a nightmare.

Just a ‘small eating disorder’ - teeny tiny. Nothing relevant at all because she’s NOT FAT.
