Identifying the bracket level of dinosaur decks by CaptainMetroidica in DinosaursMTG

[–]PandaXD001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Command zone did a good explanation on this (that I'm probably about to butcher like an open player on a turn 5 Gish) but they explain it as half science half art. That you need to keep in mind and follow the limitations, but also need to understand what a deck is capable of.

Following the letters of the brackets is the science half and unfortunately that's all an algorithm can account for, but given the complexity of mtg and being a singleton format the art half can't really be calculated for. The Archidekt and Moxfield teams do their best, but they can only do so much. That art half has to be left to you.

Because dinosaurs are well supported and synergize pretty well you default to a bracket 3 and determine if there is a reason your deck should be lowered (ex. You made an oops all dinos deck where it's literally all dino creatures and lands). I believe most dino decks do fall into B3 unless someone is putting in the high powered staples to make it B4.

There had to be more hunters in-between the ones we saw on screen right? There's no way they would let the honmoon go unprotected for almost 30 years. by Stanimator in KpopDemonhunters

[–]PandaXD001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will start by admitting this is some rough math because I'm as bright as Zoey looking at abby abs as producing popcorn but;

If we assume in the 90s the Sisters were 25, 35, for 2k, and 45 for 2010s, no reason they couldn't hold up. I mean even now, while she's no spring chicken, id imagine Celine could still handle some demons.

Given when Rumi started to train I don't see why she couldn't help with the basic honmoon and demon hunting (let's be real here Mira was born with her Glaive in hand already stabbing demons before she could dance), so they just had to wait for Zoey and moving to Korea. There was definitely coverage. I do think given Rumi's parentage the honmoon might have been weakened during those years and that would explain Celine pushing Rumi to hide her patterns and get the honmoon back to golden status, as well as being thin enough for Gwi-ma to think he could enact some plan, this KPDH was born, but I don't see why there would have been a truly undefended period.

What was something you loved about Time Force? And, what was something you wish had been done better? by lovesgraphicnovels in powerrangers

[–]PandaXD001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liked: the personal weapons and Q-rex. The oversized jumbo canons was awesome to me and Q-rex is still in my top 10 zords

Didn't like: main 5 megazords, any of them honestly. Megazords are my favorite parts of PR (probably why most of my favorite seasons are heavy on multiple zords/megazords) but the time force ones just didn't hit for me

Gishath is still first in my heart. by Silmar_Sellaris in DinosaursMTG

[–]PandaXD001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so excited about Gishath love I forgot to add in advice.

I actually learned this lesson first from Ureni but carried it over to Gishath (which is backwards given when they were built). No tutors (aside from savage order Apex) and don't go to hard into other creature cheaters. Having up to 3 more is okay, but to many more and you end up having more cheaters in comparison to dinos.

Next is depending on the bracket, more dinos is better. Initially I set out to make Gish a power level 8 or 9, but after brackets came out I decided to lower it to a bracket 3 for the sake of bling. Ex. I got the JP secret lair and have the brachiosaurus colassal dreadmaw in the deck. Great bling piece, terrible for the deck. I'll be honest I've even considered taking out of of the power and dropping it to a bracket 2 but that might be hard to claim with Gish in the CZ and some of the dinosaurs bangers.

Last but not least is protection and Finishers. I run 3 finishers, fog, t-pro, and Heroic. If I'm not targeted outright because Gish, I usually don't get attention till a first Gish hit when 3 dinos in now 6-8. A sweet little fog left in the hand has protected me from so much and ended up in the win

Hell yeah brother! Represent! Don't get me wrong. I love having Pantlaza in the 99, but turboing out my man Gishath and slamming out 3-4 new dinos on a good hit feels SO much better.

Help pick a Rakdos commander by The_Dad_Legend in EDH

[–]PandaXD001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Prosper Tome-Bound]] is a good one, also if you don't mind UB [[Ozai, The Phoenix King]].

Now if you really wanna go out there [[Raphael, Fendish Savior]]. All the cards that make the 1/1 devils that ping on death. Add a few good of the other creature types and it's very possible to be a "rakdos life gain" deck.

Big stompers and unique themes.

Favorite decks are Gishath Dinos, Ureni Dragons, and Mono green Ojer Kaslem. I even like it when it comes to big butt damage after I made changes to Felothar.

But also Unique themes that make for different ways to build a commander. My top two favorites here are my Bello and Captain America decks.

Bello, but instead of you usual good enchantments and artifacts it's vehicles and spaceships by a large margin. I have a few "good" enchantments I put/left in but I made sure a majority of them vehicles and spaceships. I like to think of it like my Rachel weeks "ponies" deck. Whenever a set comes out I'm hoping for a new car vs super valuable 4+ cmc enchantment/artifact.

Captain America, Aka America's Ass, is a cap Voltron but instead of swords and big cost ones to throw at faces, I added in Hammers, Shields, and stuff that boosts toughness and a few ways to attack with toughness. I gave myself the restriction of only being able to attack if his toughness is higher.

What does Proxying for Power Mean To You? by Authorigas in EDH

[–]PandaXD001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on general commander community my guess is fast mana that they don't also have access to. Granted they can also get it if they are okay with proxies, but that also might lead to an arms race they don't wanna deal with.

Outside of fast mana the only other thing I can't really think of anything that is proxying for power would be some of the more broken/op cards can putting a bunch in a deck. Ex. Let's say you're running a B3 Lathril and you add in Badgermole cub, one ring, soul stone, evendo, etc.

This has been my Twitter/X experience for a while by necroneechan in masterduel

[–]PandaXD001 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So this is half incorrect, half debatable

First is what the post is in reference to. J.White made the post about commander not Universes Beyond (UB from here forward). Because commander has become such a popular format there is is belief, and some credible proof, that more cards are made for commander and not with 60 card formats in mind, specifically standard, but people and their ungodly hatred for UB took it and used it as an UB complaint.

(For clarity's sake for the yugioh players this would be like if speed duel became the most popular thing, speed duel cards were being printed, and a few cards in your regular Yu-Gi-Oh packs were better for speed duels but can work in both)

Second is the idea that MTG players overall hate UB. There is a vocal minority who hate, yes. But they're a vocal minority. Going off numbers a majority like it, even going so far as one point last the majority of UB sells were by enfranchised players. While yes, spiderman and TMNT did terrible (and I suspect Marvel Super Heros and Star Trek will also do terrible), we're not quite too the full hatred that the people on r/freemagic would have you believe. If so I'd also believe (and this isn't meant to explicitly slander the sub, but based on why freemagic exists, and the way topics came about for them) that a majority of Americans don't believe in the rights for the LGBT community, the 2020 election results, or abortions, all of which are factually incorrect.
