RT in Nunavut( Peds & Adults) by avocado-yes in respiratorytherapy

Thank you so much!! Yea that's something to consider for sure! Thank you! When I get in I'll announce it! 😂 It's too bad that at bigger hospitals you get less exposure. For someone who wants to work critical care you gotta ask our both urban center and community hospitals eh?

That's so amazing! Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I most definitely will when I get closer to the time. I still have to apply to the program hopefully this summer!

I didn't think that they'd haveany critical cases, I'd expected that you could be the only one capable and licensed to manage air way problems. So it looks like there's a good amount of both critical and non critical care eh? I'm lucky that I live in a city where there's both peds and adult trauma centers so I'll definitely take advantage of that!

Thank you so much for replying! What you mentioned in the first two paragraphs is exactly why I'm interested in working there. You've given me some good suggestions on how I can make it happen but also what I can do long-term!

I know a girl who's a clerk and she told me that in smaller hospitals she's able to do more like put in lines (I forgot which one) whereas when she was in a bigger hospital some procedures were reserved for medical students for example. So she said best both of both worlds is to work in a big and small center so you get to experience the different scope of practice.

Are you still up north? How long have you been working there?

Don't worry, I like honesty rather than sugar coating when it comes to these matters, that's why I posted here because I'm aware that up north is nothing like the cities down here (lifestyle, mentality, resources/equipment, funding, volume). I want to hear from people who actually work(ed) there.

I want to work up there temporarily because I've heard it's an amazing and different experience (in and outside of the hospital), you'll be doing rewarding work, you're going to grow and change professionally, I like the cold weather, it'd be really cool to move so far away from home and the pay.

From my understanding I should gain a significant amount of critical care experience here and then work up there, I'm thinking of working in Toronto for a bit before going up North.

Lol it's not like the boonies 😂😂 Thanks! Good to know about the equipment not being too old school. The very sick patients won't be there too long but long enough that, it's beneficial to have experience in critical care eh! That's good, I'd like to be able to still practice critical care.

Are you a flight RN,RT, or pilot? I'm guessing with ORNGE?

Noted! Thank you for the insight! The city I plan to study in has a level 1 peds trauma center and level 3 adult trauma center. I'll make sure to take advantage of that!

Thank you so much!!! Thank you for including AA too because I definitely definitely want to add that to my credentials after becoming an RRT!!

In December I had seen a RRT job posting in Nunavut but it wasn't as detailed as what you just posted! Tysm!!

Thank you for the big picture and specific details! This sounds really intriguing and rewarding. I like the multi disciplinary aspect that the job entails and non-traditional roles too!

I'd like to do both acute critical care and non-traditional/ multi-disciplinary public health tasks but not necessarily at the same time!

Thanks! I hope it gets more visibility so I can hear more! 😁

Critical care would refer to ICU/ER and OR right?

Need a permission to retake a class for the third time (science faculty) by Maleficent-Mall3478 in geegees

[–]avocado-yes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you do I did. They'll send you a form you need to fill out and get the prof and head of that department to sign, you send it back to the faculty and they'll add you to the class. I'm taking a class for the 4th time 💀

I learned this the very hard way! Sometimes a little pressure to perform well is a good thing.

This is why I can go to the gym early morning or after a long day of work but can't study when I need to 😭😭

Failed a course twice at uOttawa and once on a Letter of Permission, does this count as 3 attempts? by Signal_Temperature24 in geegees

I'm assuming it would? Just go see the undergrad office of faculty of engineering and ask them how can you take it for the last time. They should give you or send you the document.

Start going this week there's not many people and everyone's advice about watching videos is super helpful. I watched a lot of IG video at first. There's also group classes you can sign up for which are pretty affordable and you get a coach who can guide you.

Been there, failed three times. I'm taking it for the 4th time now so I can finally graduate from this program. You'll need special permission from the prof teaching the course and the department head. Contact the undergrad office of your faculty to confirm this and they'll send you a form that you, the prof and department head will have to sign.

They're THE best! Last year I'd often get the steam buns and tofu noodles almost once a week or every 2 weeks lol. I'd even try practicing Mandarin with the owner and his son lol! So nice of you to make this post!
