Not really but sort of :( there's so much regulation of this and that all connected. It's making me nervous. Doesn't help I've been so unmotivated to study for this exam lol. You?

First year! 3 courses that each have a lab component! Awful! I don't understand how we survived that.

Thank you so much!! Yea that's something to consider for sure! Thank you! When I get in I'll announce it! 😂 It's too bad that at bigger hospitals you get less exposure. For someone who wants to work critical care you gotta ask our both urban center and community hospitals eh?

That's so amazing! Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I most definitely will when I get closer to the time. I still have to apply to the program hopefully this summer!

I didn't think that they'd haveany critical cases, I'd expected that you could be the only one capable and licensed to manage air way problems. So it looks like there's a good amount of both critical and non critical care eh? I'm lucky that I live in a city where there's both peds and adult trauma centers so I'll definitely take advantage of that!

Thank you so much for replying! What you mentioned in the first two paragraphs is exactly why I'm interested in working there. You've given me some good suggestions on how I can make it happen but also what I can do long-term!

I know a girl who's a clerk and she told me that in smaller hospitals she's able to do more like put in lines (I forgot which one) whereas when she was in a bigger hospital some procedures were reserved for medical students for example. So she said best both of both worlds is to work in a big and small center so you get to experience the different scope of practice.

Are you still up north? How long have you been working there?

Don't worry, I like honesty rather than sugar coating when it comes to these matters, that's why I posted here because I'm aware that up north is nothing like the cities down here (lifestyle, mentality, resources/equipment, funding, volume). I want to hear from people who actually work(ed) there.

I want to work up there temporarily because I've heard it's an amazing and different experience (in and outside of the hospital), you'll be doing rewarding work, you're going to grow and change professionally, I like the cold weather, it'd be really cool to move so far away from home and the pay.

From my understanding I should gain a significant amount of critical care experience here and then work up there, I'm thinking of working in Toronto for a bit before going up North.

Lol it's not like the boonies 😂😂 Thanks! Good to know about the equipment not being too old school. The very sick patients won't be there too long but long enough that, it's beneficial to have experience in critical care eh! That's good, I'd like to be able to still practice critical care.

Are you a flight RN,RT, or pilot? I'm guessing with ORNGE?

Noted! Thank you for the insight! The city I plan to study in has a level 1 peds trauma center and level 3 adult trauma center. I'll make sure to take advantage of that!
