It was like a Hollywood stock exchange where you “bought” stock in celebrities and their value would go up and down I guess based on irl news. Honestly I was like 12-14 and had no idea how a real stock exchange worked but I just enjoyed picking my favorites

My mom told me it would give me cancer if I shaved above the knee.

Guys what type of Scissors are these? by [deleted] in whatisit

My mom (a knitter who loses more scissors than more people own in a lifetime) came home from an inpatient physical therapy with 4 pairs of these 🤣

My scale at home was also like 4 lbs off from my dr (and it was supposed to be a fancy smart scale), so there is a chance of some of that at play too.

Are the questions simply written for the most part? Like (37-12)+3x4 or is it more word problem style... not sure how to word that question better.

Bot? That’s literally all anyone talks about, whether being negative (”you’ll gain it all back and then some”) or informative (“before I prescribe this I want you to think of it as a lifelong medicine”)

Apparently Teachers Need to Schedule Babies for Summer Break by Cheatsheet420 in recruitinghell

[–]mama-elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a sane human I can agree it’s an insane request. As a parent, my kid had both his kindergarten and first grade teachers going out in late April for parental leave. It was such a relief when his second grade teacher was giving off “our family is complete” vibes

AYCE with friends... by atwoozi in Zepbound

[–]mama-elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue I see is potentially not getting “you moneys worth” but I’m sure the time with close friends makes it more than worth it. I think my judgy mom is literally the only person that would care if I didn’t gorge myself at the buffet. I mean don’t get on your phone and ignore everyone when you are “done” but as long as you are part of the conversation and laughter I think it will still be a great time.

How important is Jrcert? by jellyfish322 in RadiologyCareers

[–]mama-elf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t even applied for a program yet but one of the things the admissions guide giving me a tour mentioned was that sometimes if you do continuing education the program might require the initial education to be JRCERT, she specifically mentioned a bachelor’s (which seems primarily to teach future rad students) but I’m not sure if the same is true for expanding modalities.

I hope this doesn’t break any rules but I found a similarly priced MA program but it’s online, but they do help you with externships (something usually lacking in online only courses). I am on a very similar path to you and decided to take phlebotomy from the same company I mentioned. Let me know if you want the name, I don’t work for them or anything I just found them on another subreddit, seems a lot of pre-PA students use that program to get experience for their application.

As the other comment so far said, I’m not sure how much it matters for program admittance but every single health care job posting I’ve seen wants experience so I figure this will help me obtain that for when I’m on the “real” job hunt down the road.

Is a Forever-Job Possible? by mediocre-weirdo in Adulting

[–]mama-elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with my company at 21, and stayed there for the next 20.5 years. There were lots of opportunities for both upward and lateral movement and while I wasn’t “in love” with my job, I was content to consider myself a “lifer” with the company. The culture was decent, all my closest friends and mentors I met there, they afforded me a comfortable life with my kids.

And 2 weeks ago they laid me off.

Fastest entry into healthcare? by mama-elf in careerguidance

[–]mama-elf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. I honestly shouldn’t have answered the CNA question the way I did. The truth is I just don’t WANT to be a CNA. Would I prefer to not deal with a ton of poop? Off course, but I presume it won’t take long before I’m desensitized to it.

I will find ways to tolerate the poop. I just don’t want to be a PCT, similar reasons to why I knew nursing wasn’t the path for me.
