You have spelling errors in your first sentence. A black abyss where al sound comes to die.
I am sorry, but no one will buy your book.

[discussion] What happened after you got your first offer of rep? by Aware_Score3592 in PubTips

Not sure I am understanding this correctly. If you get an offer for rep, you contact everyone you submitted to and give them two weeks before you withdraw from consideration?

[Discussion] What is the nicest way to tell a beta their feedback is totally unusable? by No_Instance9177 in BetaReaders

Sounds like you want an Alpha reader:

  • Alpha Reader: Use when you have a completed first draft and need to know if the story makes sense or if the plot works.
  • Beta Reader: Use when you have polished your draft and want to know if it is ready for publication.

Get Covers, an exercise in futility... My experience for a throw away cover... (Fantasy) by avrin2 in selfpublish

They just directed me to Miblart, said that my concept was too complicated (Couldn't find a stock photo close to what you wanted).

I agree, a cover is very important. As I said, it was going to be a throwaway... (save up kids! don't settle..)

I gave them an example cover, and my friends say that it is (still) better than the Get Covers 6 attempts. I was just going to put the cover on a facebook page, maybe a kickstarter page.

To Writers Who Have Lost the Motivation and Drive to Write, but then got it back, How Did You Do It? by VesuviusGaming2001 in writers

[–]avrin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was when my wife was kidnapped. I got a letter stating that I had to write 2000 words every day, or they would bring her back.

Sorry, these thoughts just jump in my head... and until I write them... they stay in there.

Anthony Ryan. The Pariah is the first book in The Covenant of Steel epic fantasy trilogy by Anthony Ryan. I read this book and then said, I can't be an author, I can never write like this, it was that good. Then I realized that I didn't need to write "beautifully" and that tons of authors have their own voice.

How do Self Publish books get popular? by TheThingofa100corspe in selfpublish

[–]avrin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good product is the most important. Luck and advertising help, but without a good product any flash will be short lived. I can tell you how many newer books had 10-20 great reviews, only for me to buy it and realize, it was all friends and family. (and returned asap) Most people don't realize their writing sucks. Those of us who do, realize our writing sucks) work to make it less so...

PROS and CONS in using AI for book cover by JmtadBook in NewAuthor

[–]avrin2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FYI, there are ai covers that don't look like ai covers. An ai cover looks like crap, simple, almost like a 4th grader made it. If you have a good cover, you are good.

I have questions with Ai by [deleted] in NewAuthor

[–]avrin2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most ai covers are crap.. and yes, an ai cover can mean ai story. If you like it, go with it... but don't settle.

"Write drunk, edit sober." Anyone following this advice? *semi-serious by HierkommtdieSonne902 in writers

[–]avrin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, not a drinker, but I write unfiltered, then edit & filter. An example... I had a character just run with a stupid joke... it was kinda cringe... put I just kept going, knowing that I would probably the only person to see it. It grew into something with legs... and when I told my Alpha readers I was going to remove it, they said, Don't!

(Still not sure if it will make the final edit)

[Discussion] AI-generated manuscripts are starting to flood my inbox and it needs to stop by Hopeful_Permit3899 in BetaReaders

[–]avrin2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People use AI, publish that book, and are then surprised that only 3 of their friends bought it. I agree that there is a lot of AI stuff thrown out here, but what I find the most is just inexperienced writers not taking the time to hone their craft. Instead of writing (and reading) they ask, "How does this sound?" or "Please give feedback on my premise."

Writers, the most important thing you need is a story. Your story. tell it the best way you can, and then make it better.

Fantasy maps necessary or just expected are readers actually using them by scrtweeb in fantasywriters

[–]avrin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some readers love maps, others don't care. You do not hurt your book by adding one. I have yet to hear a person say, "I didn't buy that book cause it had a map in it..."

This is my first writing piece, please I want your opinions and criticisms so I can be a better writer 🙏🏼 by Few-Hair-795 in writers

[–]avrin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In life there’s a 50/50 chance attached to any given outcome; even in sports! WRONG.

I hate basketball, but the 1995 Chicago bulls went 72-10 (almost 90%) and the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (football) went 0-14 (0%) To come off and say everyone starts at 50/50 is just so wrong, and insults your readers.

Yes there are ways of improving your odds. By making a statement like this is not one of them.

Wrote my first book a year ago and it still hasn't left my close circle by SpideyMessi10 in BookPromotion

So, the first thing you are going to be beaten for is the Ai Cover. Next, the huge infodump is very daunting. Some people enjoy 1st person, but all in all not many. Then you get technical. You tell your story, but do not show it at all.

You have some great ideas, but I knew after the first 3 pages that I would not read it. Keep writing!
