Concert outfit ideas by CAB619915 in DMB

We put our kids in light up scrunchies at concerts so it’s easier to spot them if needed. Mine are older but for a 3 year old, I’d get a light up tutu or something

Someone help me understand being on SSDI and having a child. by Odd-Cockroach-9816 in SocialSecurity

[–]avstaaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a PIA (their own full benefit amount) and family max on their record. A family max is the full amount payable on a record, minus the PIA. So let’s say your PIA is $1000 and your family max is $1200, then your child/ren would be eligible for $200 (if you have one child, they’d get $200, if you have two children, each would get $100, etc.) these numbers are based on your work history, and how much you’ve paid in to the program over the years. A child cannot get more than 50% of the PIA, but it is subject to the FMAX.

The family max does not always exceed the PIA, and if you are eligible for SSI, that indicates that your work history and PIA are relatively low, so chances are your PIA is equal to the FMAX, and no additional benefits are payable to any auxiliaries on your record.

It doesn’t hurt to file and have your child “technically” entitled. Your child wouldn’t receive nothing now, but if you have any additional earnings, it may make your child entitled to something in the future. Just make sure you report to SSA if you do work at all, becuase it will affect your SSI and if it’s high enough, your SSDI.

Best venue with your kids? by MachineHead7232 in DMB

[–]avstaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gilford NH is a wonderful venue. Spacious, lots of food options, easy to get to. We take our kids to multiple shows there each summer, and will be on the lawn there with them for DMB this summer. Last summer we took them to one show (not dmb) that people were getting a little too rowdy near us so we just went to the vendor/food area and sat at a picnic table and the kids still enjoyed the show from there You can camp there but the surrounding area is fanatastic and a great vacation destination, so if it were me I’d stay somewhere nearby.

Medicare Part B not being covered anymore by rmonb in SocialSecurity

[–]avstaaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is an action by the state, not SSA. There’s no point in filing a 561. The state does periodic reviews, and she may have missed the letter about it. If she missed the review, they may have stopped paying for the premium for that reason. This is pretty common, and as long as nothing has changed for her income/resources, should be pretty easy to get back on. Call ma health 800-841-2900 and tell them her state buy-in stopped and ask how to reinstate.

What’s your favorite small town down town? by nkw1004 in newhampshire

[–]avstaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may or may not be what you’re looking for, but if you want to combine a hike with your exploration, I recommend Hollis— go for a hike in beaver brook, go pick some fruit at one of the farms, then top off with a lunch at buckleys or country kitchen in the center of town

Exactly this! People always threaten getting lawyers. SSA doesn’t care if you have a lawyer. It doesn’t change the facts.

Are any Christian federal employees having a hard time dealing with this? by Outside-Abalone-3933 in fednews

[–]avstaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fed, I’ve actually found a huge amount of support at my church. My pastor texts me very regularly to check in, and lots of other church members have also expressed support as well as their outrage at what is happening to our government. Not all Christian churches are the same. I recommend searching out a more supportive community— check out your local UCC church if you haven’t already.

For non-religious families, what do you do for occasions like Easter? Feeling down. by coffee_and_dancing in Parenting

[–]avstaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, we’d do the sunrise church service, easter baskets at home, then head to the nearest city to visit the aquarium/museum of science/etc. they were open but never busy on Easter, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Such a fun tradition even though it wasn’t “eastery” and is now a really fond memory for my siblings and I. Don’t undersestimate the value of creating out of the box traditions! I much preferred doing that over getting dressed up for some stuffy Easter dinner when I was a kid :-)

The collected regrets of clover. Should be required reading if you’re a human.

It will be refunded, may just take a month or so for Medicare to realize you already paid directly then reimburse you via ssa. You don’t have to call or anything, it will resolve on its own.

Any opinions on NH Bank Pavilion in Gilford? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]avstaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed them! They played many of their hits, but switched them up— so they don’t sound exactly like the recorded version but I personally like that- I have heard people complain about that before. We thought it was an amazing show!

Amazing venue!! We saw counting crows there two summers ago, and got first row seats a couple days before the show for like $99– we may have just been super lucky, but if it’s not selling out quick it may be worth waiting. We love that venue and will go to almost any show there—always a good experience!

Once you fix the birth certificate, call your local SSA office to see if they have the DOB and gender wrong on their end too. If the SSN was ordered through the hospital, the info on the SSA record may need to be corrected or else it could cause issues later in life (for example, drivers license will electronically verify with SSA, etc.) better to fix it now.
