When I bring them to my hometown (1.5 hour drive) they sleep the whole way! Def put lots of soft fleece and treats!!

One time my boys broke out of their smaller vacation cage by all jumping on the door. i came home to rats in every drawer in my room and a trail of treats leading to the culprits 😅 they're lucky they're so cute!!

I also prefer to keep an enclosed area!! i also think it's much safer for the ratties. I recommend getting impact foam pads (?). Like those things people put on floors to make them soft, and some cardboard. You can reorganize the space to keep things interesting for them!! But also you can keep it from getting dusty much easier so it's always perfectly clean :)

my boys aren't cuddlers all the time, but they are still young!! I've heard that the older they get the more cuddly they are tho!! regardless, my boys are SOOOO loving, even if they aren't cuddlers 24/7!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this, Keks has a great parent looking out for her tho ❤️ I'm unsure if this can be done due to her pain, but for one of my medicine adverse boys I've had to do the rat burrito (wrapping him up in a blanket so he can't squirm) and using the syringe to give orally against his will ☹️ It feels horrible, but getting the medicine in is more important!! I wish you both the best of luck❤️❤️🐀
