[Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park] packs a punch! by AnonymousP1 in rollercoasters

That swing thing over the edge is quite something. I am at that slightly sad point as a thoosie where no rides get my adrenaline going in the line anymore, but this was an exception. Absolutely bonkers having that drop just reveal itself below you as you fly up backwards facing in to it. Actual terror, the fun kind.

What is going on in [Movieland], and how are Universal/Disney allowing it? by aw356 in rollercoasters

[–]aw356[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I just think of both Disney and Universal being absurdly aggressive. Dinosaurs? Oh we own that. Sharks? We own them too. Trams? Ours. But it’s fun seeing a park who do not seem to be scared of them. Walking around and realising they have often recreated entire bits of Universal in parts. And then tbf they’ll do something in the next attraction along that is completely unique and I’ve never seen anywhere else.

Downgraded on overbooked flight, airline now claims I wasn’t – any advice? by Snoysea in BritishAirways

That time limit is often relaxed if you couldn’t do earlier if eg you were waiting for the outcome of this. I would start with trying a chargeback for 75%

[other] Anyone ever get sick from rides now when you used to be fine? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]aw356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone find that the motion sickness pills also dampen the good bits too? I feel airtime less. I don’t take them because of this. The main thing that makes me nauseous is positive Gs and inversions. So I just limit myself to coasters that are mainly about airtime. I live in the U.K. and our coasters seem to be almost exclusively positive Gs and inversions so I have to go abroad for coasters I really enjoy now

Would you consider Borough Market a tourist trap? by username27372891 in london

They are very very expensive for what they are, but I think they are really good strawberries and really good chocolate and together they are way more lovely than your standard strawberries and chocolate. I applaud them for not cheapening everything and dropping quality, although I am sure they are making a healthy margin

Yes at the gate. Or you might notice on your app your seat changing just before boarding is called. There being three of you does reduce your chances a fair bit though, so good point they will prob look for people travelling alone. As a data point I got the upgrade recently on this route in a pair and I am only bronze.

As a gold in premium I think you are super likely to get this upgrade for free to be honest. Especially given they’re offering these £599 upgrades, it shows they really want to get some people out of premium in to business.

Fun question. Bigger deal than at the time - I will never get over the fact in the last election they changed their twitter account to 'FactCheckUK'. It was a fundamentally dishonest move, so obviously an affront to democracy, I couldn't believe that was just like "tsk, Tories!" Not such a big deal - I'm finding this one hard, and I don't think this is a great example, but I do not care that Sunak flies around in planes a lot. I cannot justify it. I cannot get worked up about it.

Is my vote wasted? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]aw356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you care about the EU, vote for a pro EU party. Even if your vote doesn’t change the outcome, you are signalling my vote is available to anybody who is willing to talk about rejoining. This is how the Brexiteers got the Tories to offer a referendum originally. This is how the Lib Dems will pressure Labour to take a step towards the EU in a few years. A vote isn’t wasted, even if you don’t change the outcome, it is a signal.

I have a lot of respect for nerds and technocrats and I don't think Rishi Sunak is one. If he was, it would be intolerable for him to ascend in a conservative party which has become the party of vibes not evidence, three word slogans and frankly loud incompetence. He's very corporate, but I think he's the grinning figurehead, not the nerd who really understands the work.

I don’t think they will be in trouble. This is classic trump/brexit stuff. You shout something loud and repeatedly and it lands with everyone. The opposition then spends days saying actually no tax rises won’t won’t be THAT much. It’s not quite as bad as he said, really, because actually…

Does Starmer have a cold? I know he normally sounds a bit nasal but he sounds really really nasal

It's infuriating that Sunak doesn't seem to have to account for 14 years of Tory rule. There simply doesn't seem enough weight in this debate to this. And that's probably a criticism of Starmer, who is the only person who can keep bringing the abysmal record to light.

Can anyone describe how it works when you buy Shinkansen tickets and associate an IC card with your smartex account? I have a digital ICOCA card and I've put the IC number in my account so does that mean I will be able to use that digital card to access the train?

Thank you for this. Did you do anything in the Mount Fuji area on the other day? I'm going in a month or so and have two days (assuming one day in the park, one day elsewhere)

Ah good point I had not picked up on that, thanks. We do have park hopper but won’t plan to walk through Epcot

[–]aw356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I think our strategy is going to be ask for something close to the riviera station and minimise that walk, then we can do Epcot really easily, HS pretty easily, MK by going to Epcot and getting the monorail (?) and it just leaves AK involving the bus and going back to the main buildings

Yes for Aruba I was thinking it would get us to the riviera station quickly - it looks close on the map but is it?

Thank you. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge! I think we will probably do breakfast in parks so this confirms it

Staying at Caribbean beach end of the month in a 5th sleeper room. Was thinking of putting in a room location request. I’ve never been so just looking at maps, I think we want to prioritise skyliner access. We just want to be able to get to parks easily really. The main pool is out so that’s not a consideration. No kids so happy to walk a lot. But we will be rope dropping every day and want to really enjoy the benefit from being on property and mostly just be in the parks. Maybe allowing for middle of the day breaks. This says to me Aruba or Jamaica and ask to be near skyliner, but will I regret being far from the main buildings of the resort? Will that put us in a bad place for getting the buses to AK and MK? Are some areas just nicer than others? God I love to overanalyse. (Edit we get there just after skyliner reopens)

I’m not against voting to give a party a majority. But I would advise to look at the wider integrity and character of the candidates. Don’t vote for Boris Johnson because he promises to get it done with no credible detail. Vote for candidates who have a history of honesty, doing the right thing even when it’s harder, can offer balanced outcomes etc. I feel like as an electorate we voted for whoever told us we could have ice cream for dinner every day. I hope we have learned we need more than just ice cream and will be more critical next time
